No it does not. This photo was taken during the time when the dust bowl was rampant, people had to protect themselves from the dust storms. This shows us just how far people were willing to go to stay safe from the dust. This photo does portray a reality that is contrary to our popular belief because we dont think much of dust but it is very dangerous as shown in this photo.

The photographer, Irving Underhill took this photo of Times Square at night in the 1930’s. Underhill is best known for their commercial photographs of New York City throughout the first half of the 20th century. During this time, the entire country was suffering from The Great Depression. The Great Depression took a toll on people’s moral as people fell into economic depression because it was a struggle to keep jobs, homes, and make money. The photo is impacting because the Broadway lights continued to shine in Times Square during this dark time for people. For the people who were suffering, seeing the Broadway lights shine gave them hope that life will get better. This photo means a lot to me as it was a sign of hope. We tend to take things for granted this day in age and little things like city lights had a big meaning for people who were suffering.

Jukeboxes were a timely invention meant to lighten the mood of the current times. During the 1930's things were a very harsh and cruel time for American Citizens. The great depression was occurring as a stock market crash sent us into a recession that took us many years to get out of. At the time music was used as a source to have a way out of the depressing daily lifestyle. Music was used to cheer people up for a cheap price, jukeboxes were invented.

During the 17 years he played for the Yankees and got 218 hits and he helped out the team a lot. Gehrig got diagnosed with ALS which led to his retirement and many citizens pushed to honor him.

They were losing members and the members were encouraged to stay out of trouble. It shows that even though the kkk was in decline there was still lynchings and other things going on and that racism was around throughout all of history. The photograph is pretty shocking, lynching is still at a large.Yes, lynching was thought to have been in decline and barely existent but its still there.

Eleanor Roosevelt is addressing a group at Cumberland Farmsteads in Tennessee in this photo. During the Great Depression, FDR had programs go into effect to help bring Americans out of the Great Depression and raise their morals. These programs would offer employment to people who had loss their jobs during the Great Depression and provide them essential things like shelter, food, and water for those who were homeless. Work would consist of working on farms, roadwork, or other construction projects. This photo is impacting because it shows the government coming together with the people to fix the economic problems. It's another sign of hope for people because it offered opportunity to get out of poverty and start a new life again.
