In Cypriot culture, life is often approached "siga, siga" - meaning "slowly, slowly." There's an emphasis on not rushing people, conversations or relationships. Time is seen as flexible, but trust and connection are not. Respect is shown through patience: taking time to listen, to share food, and to build relationships properly rather than transactionally. This slower rhythm reflects a wider cultural value across Cyprus and many other Eastern Mediterranean and West Asian cultures, where social bonds and mutual respect often matter more than speed or efficiency.
