There were almost 30 people in the classroom and had to taaruf together. It was fun and i have known a lot of students from different courses.

Next, the facilitator talk about adab as a students and we must be respectful to each other especially with the lecturer. We must apply adab in ourselves especially seeking for knowledge so that we receive adab with true blessing.

Hadith Jibril

The Hadith of Jibril is a key narration in Islam that summarizes its fundamental teachings. In this hadith, Angel Jibril, appearing as a man, asks the Prophet Muhammad SAW about Islam, Iman (faith), and Ihsan (spiritual excellence). Through this conversation, the Prophet explains the essential aspects of religion in a structured manner.

Islam consists of the five pillars: the testimony of faith (Shahadah), prayer (Salah), almsgiving (Zakat), fasting (Sawm), and pilgrimage (Hajj). Iman involves belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine destiny (Qadr). Ihsan is the highest level of faith, where one worships Allah with full awareness of His presence. The hadith also mentions signs of the Day of Judgment, including social upheavals and economic transformations. These reminders encourage Muslims to remain conscious of their faith and prepare for the hereafter. The second component is Iman (faith), which consists of believing in six core principles: faith in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine predestination (Qadr), whether good or bad. This emphasizes that true belief is not just about outward practice but also about having firm conviction in the unseen.

The third and highest level is Ihsan, which refers to worshiping Allah with the awareness that He is always watching. This concept encourages sincerity and devotion in worship, as a believer should strive to worship as if they see Allah, and if that is not possible, to at least remember that He sees them. Ihsan represents the deepest spiritual connection between a Muslim and their Creator, promoting humility and mindfulness in all aspects of life.

This hadith highlights the importance of both outward religious practice and inner belief, showing that true faith is a balance of action and conviction. It also emphasizes seeking knowledge with respect and being mindful of the unseen. By understanding these teachings, Muslims can strengthen their connection with Allah and live a righteous life.

Pilars of Iman

For the third week, I learned about three important pillars of Iman. Faith, or Iman, is the foundation of a Muslim’s belief. Out of the six pillars of Iman, three significant aspects are believing in Allah, His angels (Malaikah), and His divine books (Kutub). These beliefs help Muslims understand their purpose in life and how they should live according to their faith.

The first and most essential belief is in Allah, the one true God. Muslims believe that He is the Creator of everything, with no partners or equals. He alone has power over all things. This belief gives Muslims a sense of direction, encouraging them to obey His commands and live in a way that pleases Him.

Another key pillar is the belief in Angels (Malaikah). Angels are special creations made from light, and they carry out Allah’s commands without any disobedience. They perform various tasks, such as delivering messages, recording human deeds, and protecting believers.

The third pillar is belief in Divine Books (Kutub). Allah has sent guidance to people through His scriptures. These include the Tawrah (Torah), Zabur (Psalms), Injil (Gospel), and the final and preserved revelation, the Qur’an. While earlier scriptures were changed over time, the Qur’an remains unchanged and serves as a complete guide for Muslims.

These three pillars of Iman strengthen a Muslim’s faith and help them live a righteous life, always keeping Allah’s guidance in their hearts and actions.

In this Usrah session, I have explored key aspects of Islamic faith, focusing on belief in the prophets (Rasul and Anbiya’), the hereafter, divine destiny (Qada’ and Qadar), and good character (Akhlak). These teachings serve as essential guidance for Muslims in their daily lives.

Believing in the prophets reminds us of the immense trials they faced. Prophet Ibrahim was thrown into fire, Prophet Yusuf endured imprisonment and false accusations, and Prophet Muhammad encountered rejection and hardship. Despite these challenges, they remained steadfast in their faith. Prophet Nuh’s story is particularly inspiring, as he spent 950 years calling people to Islam, demonstrating patience and unwavering trust in Allah. His dedication teaches us the value of perseverance and seeking Allah’s mercy.

Belief in the hereafter shapes a Muslim’s mindset, encouraging qualities such as gratitude (syukr), patience (sabr), acceptance (redha), sincerity (ikhlas), and trust in Allah (tawakkal). Recognizing that this life is temporary and the afterlife is eternal motivates us to live with purpose and righteousness.

Understanding Qada’ and Qadar helps us accept that everything happens according to Allah’s divine plan. This belief instills humility, reminding us that while we make efforts, ultimate control rests with Allah, and we should trust in His wisdom. The session also emphasized the importance of good character (Akhlak) in various relationships—our connection with Allah, our respect for the Prophet, our duty to parents, and our interactions with friends. Strong moral values shape a person’s character and define a true Muslim.

Overall, this Usrah session reinforced the significance of faith, patience, and righteous conduct in leading a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Ihsan & Eschatology

For this session, we thought about Ihsan and Eschatology are two essential concepts that influence a Muslim’s faith and daily life. Ihsan refers to the pursuit of excellence in worship and character, while Eschatology deals with the events of the afterlife, including resurrection, judgment, and the final destiny of every soul.

Ihsan, as described in the Hadith of Jibril, means worshiping Allah with deep awareness, as if one can see Him. If that is not possible, then one must always remember that Allah sees everything. This mindset encourages sincerity in worship, honesty in dealings, and kindness in behavior. A person who practices Ihsan strives to do their best in both religious duties and personal interactions, treating others with respect, fairness, and humility.

Eschatology, on the other hand, focuses on life after death. Islam teaches that every person will be judged based on their deeds. The righteous will enter Paradise (Jannah) as a reward for their faith and good actions, while those who denied the truth and committed wrongdoings will face Hell (Jahannam). This belief serves as a reminder that life on earth is temporary and that ultimate justice will be delivered in the hereafter.

Both Ihsan and Eschatology play a significant role in shaping a Muslim’s moral and spiritual life. Ihsan encourages self-improvement and sincerity, while Eschatology serves as a motivation to stay on the right path. Together, these concepts inspire Muslims to lead a life of faith, responsibility, and mindfulness of the hereafter.

For this week we understand that good manners, or adab, are very important for building strong relationships and a peaceful society. The Quran and Hadith teach us to show respect and kindness to our parents, neighbors, society, and even in our role as students.

Adab with Parents: Islam stresses the importance of respecting and caring for our parents. Muslims are encouraged to treat their parents with love, patience, and understanding, especially as they get older. Disrespecting parents is considered a serious mistake.

Adab with Neighbors: Islam teaches that we should be kind and generous to our neighbors. Muslims are encouraged to live peacefully with those around them, be considerate of their needs, offer help when needed, and avoid doing anything that could hurt them. Good relationships with neighbors help create a peaceful and supportive community.

Adab with Society: Islam encourages us to be good citizens who contribute positively to society. This includes being honest, fair, and helping others in need. Muslims are taught to act with integrity, fulfill their duties, and avoid harming the community. In all aspects of life, whether work, trade, or social activities, a Muslim’s actions should reflect kindness and respect for others.

Adab as a Student: In Islam, seeking knowledge is very important. Students are taught to show respect for their teachers and dedicate themselves to their studies. Being polite in class, listening carefully, and applying what is learned in positive ways is part of adab. Education in Islam is not just about learning facts but also about developing good character and contributing to society in a positive way.

In short, Islam teaches that adab is about being a good person in every role we have. Whether it's showing respect to our parents, neighbors, and society, or being a dedicated student, these values help create a better and more peaceful world.

Nature enviroment & Sustainability in Islam

For the last week of usrah we learned about Islam teaches that nature is a creation of Allah, and humans are responsible for taking care of it. The earth belongs to Allah, and we are its caretakers. This idea of stewardship, or Khilafah, means that it’s our job to protect the environment, use resources wisely, and make sure future generations have what they need.

Islam encourages us to use resources carefully and avoid wasting them. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also highlighted the importance of planting trees and keeping nature healthy. These actions not only help the environment but also bring spiritual rewards.

Islam reminds us that all living things are connected, and we must protect them. It’s wrong to harm the environment for personal gain because it disrupts the balance Allah has created. This includes being mindful of how we use water, which is a valuable resource, and avoiding waste.

In conclusion, Islam calls for a balanced and responsible approach to living with nature. It teaches us to protect the environment, conserve resources, and ensure that future generations can enjoy a healthy planet. By following these teachings, Muslims can contribute to a more sustainable and peaceful world.

Usrah sessions are important for learning and strengthening our faith. To make them more engaging and beneficial, we can introduce a few improvements.

First, we should make the sessions more interactive by encouraging discussions, Q&A, and real-life applications of Islamic teachings. This will help participants feel more involved.

Second, using videos, visuals, and short stories can make learning more engaging and easier to understand.

Additionally, open discussions on real-life struggles, like balancing studies and faith, can make the sessions more relatable.

Lastly, including fun activities such as quizzes, games, or even outdoor gatherings can make Usrah more enjoyable and meaningful.

By making these changes, Usrah sessions can be more impactful, helping everyone grow spiritually and personally.
