In 375 BC, Candra Gupta II took the throne, and when he did, the empire grew across northern India, the economy flourished, and people lived well. 

People who didn’t live in the empire admired its beautiful works of art and literature.

Kings enforced the caste system, and it became a very important part in society. 

The Gupta empire remained strong until the Huns (a group from Central Asia) invaded India from the North. The Gupta empire lost power and wealth.

By the 500’s, the Gupta empire had ended and split into kingdoms as it was before.
