         <description><![CDATA[<p>The signals is electrochemical in nature, meaning the signals are having two nature - electric in nature and chemical in nature. </p><p>For Electric in nature, it is due to the movement of positively charged ions leading to the movement of electrons, creating the electrical messages transmitted along nerve fibres at high speed.</p><p>For Chemical signals, it refers to the transmission of neurotransmitters and ions like Na+ or Ca2+ between the synapse. </p><p>The reason why it has to be electrochemical in nature is that there are synapses between neurons which stops the transmission of electrical signals, hence there is a need for the chemical in nature.</p>]]></description>

When they are bind to specific protein receptors on the membrane of the next neurone, it stimulates the dendron or the cell body to generate a nerve impulse. When the electrical signal reaches the end of the nerve cell, it facilitates the release of neurotransmitters, which is chemical signal. These chemicals cross the synaptic gap between cells and pass the signal on to the next cell.</p><p>So, the whole process alternates between electrical and chemical signals.</p>]]></description>
