         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>The majority of the girls who accused other of witchcraft were young, between the ages 9 and 20.</p></li><li><p>The first accusers were Betty Parris and Abigail Williams, who claimed to be afflicted by mysterious symptoms like fits contortions and hallucinations </p></li><li><p>Other girls, such as Ann Putnam Jr. Mercy Lewis, and Mary Walcott, also joined in making accusations, often claiming to see spectral visions and being tormented by witches.</p></li><li><p>It's believed that the girls' accusations were influenced by societal and religious beliefs, as well as personal grievances and power dynamics within the community</p></li><li><p>Some of the girls recanted their accusations acknowledging that they had been caught up in a wave of hysteria and false accusations   </p></li></ol>]]></description>
