3 Important Aspects from Dr Sarra's Educational perspectives by Kristy Bloomfield

1. Setting boundaries and sticking to those boundaries are essential to quality teaching and to the creation and promotion of student success. Teachers and schools must look for the significant and positive behaviours within the student cohort and display clear rewards being given to those doing the right thing. This builds trust in the systems and boundaries -creating cause and effect, consequences for actions - which will ensure those doing the wrong thing are both unrewarded for their behaviour as well as inspired to correct their behaviour.
2. Is it absolutely essential for a teacher to believe in their students to the point that there is a strong relationship of love and trust. This relationship includes the maintaining and implementation of consequences and boundaries which promotes an environment of consistency and structure. This environment will nurture the relationships between teachers and students because they will know where they stand and will be free to feel a sense of purpose and worth; it will allow students to feel safe and supported, and all of this will culminate in students who believe in themselves as their teacher does.
3. A key priority in ensuring student achievement of success is to allow them to be themselves and to refrain from trying to mould them into something they are not.
