Today i made a first draft of a poly art themed frost landscape i used photoshop to create my background i used the polygon lasso tool to outline the triangles and the blur average to colour the selected area with the average colour. i used the CMD + F to repeat the blur average tool. i then repeated these steps to create the singular coloured triangles.

From making my background i learnt that i should have kept an original of the image and made it slightly transparent. this would of helped because it would of given me a rough guide of where i should go.

i developed my skills of making PolyArt also i developed my skills of concentration because making poly art takes a lot of time and concentration to make.

to improve my background i need to add detail to parts of my background to make them stand out from the rest of the image also i will add shadows to the image.

when making my background i came up with one problem which was that sometimes the triangles wouldn't connect and you could see the background the way i solved this was i used the grid to make sure the triangles were connected.

the next actions i need to do is i need to add texture to the background and i need to add the text to the background for the story.

in this lesson we started to sketch out our character drafts we had to use shapes to create animals I did a lady bug on Photoshop because a lady bird is our main character. i came across some problems when i was trying to split the layers and loosing which layer was which i can fix this problem by naming each layer which one it is. we also did some primary research in to what people liked about our story and what we could improve with it i think that an improvement that we could of made is to of asked more people our questions to get a wider range of answers this would gives us more feedback to work off of. a big personal problem i came across was forgetting to save my work this led to me losing all of the write up of what we founf through our research. i then had to do thw work again the next day

On this day we were adding some more colour to our characters we also learnt how to add texture to our layers also how to highlight certain areas of the character by using different tools. Some of the problems I encountered was when I was trying to select certain areas of my layer it would sometimes deselect the original I also learnt how to add texture to the layer. This is helpful because we can give a different look to things. We were also using keyboard shortcuts to quickly add colour or deselect the selected areas. This lesson has effected the progress with my book because I won't make the same mistakes I did when using photoshop. Somw of the skills that i ha e learnt doing this lesson are the time management when getting all of the work done by the end of the lesson also my creativity skills when creating things on my photoshop.

Today we were looking at some of the EBooks that bloomsberry have made before to get an idea of what they like in EBooks we were also colouring in the characters but we had some problems with colouring. some of the lines didn't connect so when we tried to highlight certain areas with the magic wand tool it would select more than you wanted. we solved this by drawing the lines and connecting them. when we used the texture tools it gave us a theme to our book because we used the same texture on the background as we did on the characters which gave it a theme.and in the end the backgrounds and characters came out well also in this lesson i have learnt more about photoshop and a lot more on how to do character design when i had to design the lady bug.

In the scene the conductor is trying to make the drummer seem like a fool by giving him the wrong piece of music. He does this to put himself above the drummer. He shows this when he changes the song they are going to play. He also shows the drummer is a fool by giving everyone else the right sheet music and giving him the wrong sheet music.

Eric Carle is the artist who is famous for doing the illustration for the hungry caterpillar he has also done other books like brown bear brown bear what do you see. the hungry catapillar has been changed in to more than 62 languages. he is age 86 and he is American . he also writes the books which he illustrates.

in this lesson we were starting to go over the making the background on our book I made the background for our first page I used a forest background from Google images as the background then I drew in a branch with the polygon lasso tool this gave it a cartoon look. I then proceeded to add leafs on to the branch. I also created two lady birds to be able to sit on the branch these two ladybirds are Suzane and Sally. Suzane is the main lady bird and Sally is Suzanes mother. we also had a look at animation we watched a video tutorial to find out how to do animation on final cut x. we used what we had learnt to make a duck swim across a pond while the camera zoomed in past some reeds on the duck going across the pond. a problem we had was when i opened final cut x there was someone else's film on there and part of it wouldnt go away so i had to work around it.

today i was making the characters for our books i had to make the gruffalo, rainbow fish and the lady bird. i used the filter gallery to give the characters the same design. we then went on to making an animation where a tiger was walking across a screen. we used two different tiger pictures the first was thing the feet down and second with them moved forward this gave the illusion of the tiger walking we used the blade too to cut the clip at 5 frames each time to make the animation consistent. the first problem i came across was when i imported the background picture in to photoshop but it was a gif so it had over 150 layers as you see in the screen shot. each layer was a different scene from the gif which allowed me to have a variety of backgrounds to choose from. I solved this by picking one layer and deleting the rest.my second problem was when making the animation the lion walked backwards i wasn't able to solve this problem but i gave a nice spin on the original idea. if i was t do the animation again i would concentrate more on what i am doing on the animation so i don't cause the lion to walk backwards. looking at the final outcomes of the characters i am happy with how they turned out because they all have the same effect which brings consistancy to the look of the characters. today i have learnt how to duplicate the scenes on final cut pro. i also learnt how to add effects to the characters in photoshop. i feel that i have completed my personal target because all of our characters have the same effect.

Today we got in to our groups and had meetings about who was going to do what on that day. me and Kieran had the job of getting the sound effects for book we had to find things around the college to create these sounds some of them were easy like the stomping sound. for this we used Kieren walking heavily. I also helped other groups with Photoshop. we encountered quite a few problems one of these was when Kaylee was creating the backgrounds we needed the forest background from our first image but this was on the macs and we were working on the windows computers we solved this problem by going out to the open plan and logging on to one of the macs and emailing the background to myself. another problem we came across was with some of the sound effects the first was that we needed rustling leaves and there wasn't any leaves because of the time of year so we kicked a bush and recorded it this gave the sound of rusling leaves. another problem was the running water because a lot of the toilets were out of service we then tried some other toilets that weren't out of service and when we did find one that wasn't out of service the water made no sound so we had to use a water dispenser to create the sound. i think that sounds that we got were effective because we used automatic doors to create the portal sound which worked well. we also held the ipad up in the hair and this got an effective wind sound. for the book case we used a door opening which worked well as well. today i have got more experience in working out what to use to create certain sounds.

In the podcast about drive he toutvhes on the surface of the film but goes alot more indepth in to the things you can't see almost like an iceberg. In the podcast about whiplash he only describes the film he talks about the things we can see and doesnt go indepth about the things we can't see. I think that the podcast about drive was better because in touched on the surface and went indepth in to why the film was good. It also explained about songs or conversations he had where it would mean something big in the story.

In this lesson we were looking at how to create characters for our books i used circles and ovals to create a lady bird for our book our team akted proffesionally and got all of the work done we all designed different characters. When creating the characters we had to make sure that one side of it was symetrical with the other side and this was sometimed hard when we had to flip objects. I think that i achieved all of my targets during this lesson and got all of the work done to a good standared

Today we were doing the voices for our characters to go with our E-Book the first probelm we came across was trying to find a room that was suitable for recording voices. This means that it had to be quiet but not have an echo. We solved this problem by asking the teacher and they found a room in the same block which was very quiet and had no echo we started to do our voices and we got most of them finished. At the begining of the lesson we had to do an agenda for what we were going to complete in our group and i feel that i have compleyed all of my targets i gave myself for that lesson.
