Couros says that the three most important words are " Relationships, Relationships, Relationships". The concept trust really stood out to me. Something that is so simple, yet not easy to earned. Obtaining the reward of trust requires putting in the work of laying the foundation through establishing, maintaining, cherishing, and valuing relationships. Trust can be endless or gone in the blink of an eye based on actions, mindsets, and behaviors.

Engaging vs Empowering:
It can be easy enough to engage students with exciting content or relevant “hooks.” The next step is empowering the students to make the content their own and to take action on it.
This is relevant to me in the very “exciting” Parliamentary Procedure unit that I teach to all sophomores in my program. Groups who go from engaged to empowered usually figure out how to “ParliPro” themselves into a pizza party or ice cream party. Then there are the groups who never get there!

There is so much "new" out there, MBL, PBL, acronyms and apps galore - as educators we need to be looking forward - that's innovation
