He saved Celeste's live from all the dangers outside and he was loyal and did what Celeste said and brought her home.  He also found her wet and covered with mud and he didn't ignore her he did something about it and helped cheer her up.  I also think Celeste is a true friend because she was very thankful when Lafayette helped her and when Cornelius asked her to get some dogwood berries she tried really hard and went on a long and scary adventure and still got him some dogwood berries.
