This creates tension in some fishing line to keep the tree up. When it spins and releases tension, well you'll see :)

I'd planned to have two axles with some gearing, so the watering can would move more and for longer, and the tree wouldn't fall so quickly, but ran out of space and time.

Mochi making prototype - the figures will be taking turns pounding the mochi dough in the bowl. Each figure will be powered by a cam. Ideally there would be a third brave & trusting person who would reach in & flip the dough between the pounding (probably just have them bending forward from a squat) but that cam would be on a different plane so maybe a lever would connect to a cam on the main drive.

Sorry I pressed inadvertently the return button. This is going to be the real room where the utter bewilderment of Kafka is going to take place. The door is going to open up to an angle of 30°. It will be dark out there and perhaps there will be a fade light to make sure it is morning. At the same time the window will stay open (doesn't one sleep with the windows open?)

The tools I'm going to use are as follows: a small gear motor usually used in Christmas musical boxes in Germany and they are really slow (3 turns per minute) Advantage: it can be connected to a normal power line because of the identical frequency (Hertz). No need of a transformer. Furthermore I've ordered bowden cables for the door to open. Hopefully it'll work. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
