Polteraband: a quirky custom from the land of the Germans

For context: Polterband is a german and to a lesser extend polish custom in which, on the night before a wedding the guests break porcelain to bring luck to the couple's marriage. Which comes from the old adage shards bring luck.

When reading an article on the subject, i was oddly indifferent to the topic, merely seeing it as a quirky oddity from a different culture. So i'm broadly pretty neutral to the subject matter.
