I think we should have an insanity plea. I think this because people who do things like this are still going to be insane even in jail and when they come out of jail. What they need is real help to get better and be normal because if there still insane they might do the same crime.

I think that there should be an insanity plea because if someone is insane or mental that would probably need care in a room, rather than a cell. For example, what is a person try's to commit suicide. Therefore he would need special help in a mental hospital rather than a jail cell.
Pro- You'll be taken care of and get, help, better environment
Con- You need evidence and reasoning's

I think that there should definitely be a insanity plea. Pro - This will allow people who have committed crimes/illegal activities to be able to get the help they need. If someone is mentally ill and goes to jail they are not able to improve their health and become a better person. Con - If someone is charged with a crime and they have to go to jail they could act mentally insane in order to get out of going. This could lead to people faking how they think so they can choose where they want to end up.

Sending someone to jail who is insane can just make the problem worse than it already is. The cons are that people think it would be better than jail so they act like they are insane just to get in it. I think people should be able to use it because people would be able to figure out if someones insane or not and if they are it can really help them in a lot of ways.

The insanity plea is a complicated thing. I think the insanity plea should be there for certain things and for others should be changed. I think that the insanity plea should be able for use for something as bad as a murder or down to like attempted murder or as low as Grand Theft Auto. But anything lower than Grand theft auto should not be able to use or even have the insanity plea and should be found guilty or innocent to the crime and if proven guilty should be punished to jail. But some other things higher than grand theft auto, like bank robbery or robbing a house, building, or store should not have insanity plea.

The pros of having an insanity plea in courts is that if you are actually mentally ill, you can get the help you need, rather than going to a place where your health may just deteriorate even further. You also could be protecting the people inside of the prison, because the mentally ill person may be a danger to others if they don't understand what they are doing wrong. The cons of having an insanity plea is that if someone isn't insane and claim to be, they could have just found a way of escaping jail. People using the insanity plea should be evaluated by doctors before being allowed the insanity plea.
