  • Access Now is an app that was launched in 2015 and is partnered with The Social Ventures Zone at Ryan University in Toronto. 

    • Access Now has been used for crowdsourcing to find and share locations that has accessible entrances for the elderly, parents on strollers and people with disabilities.

    • Maayan was born with muscular dystrophy and has been using a wheelchair her entire life. 

    • Maayan is frustrated and has been struggling to find hang out spots that doesn't have just stairs. 

    • Because of this, she created an app called Access Now. Her goal is to map out every location that has accessible entrances so that is easier to find new places.

    • Mayaan has been working in her community at a very young age to bring awareness of disability and help improve accessibility. 

    • In the year of 2016, it was a very remarkable year for Mayaan. She received the city of Toronto Access Award and David C. Onley Leadership in Accessibility.

    • Access Now has over 20000 places in 32 countries pinned and counting. 

    • Access Now and Maayan Ziv have been featured on Canadian channels like CTV, Vice and Maclean's.

  • Access Now started off only in Toronto, then got expanded to Canada then eventually other countries.

    • People have noticed a difference when finding locations that are accessible here are a few quotes. "Hey, I used your app today and I was able to find an accessible pizza place," - A person who contacted Maayan

    • With the creation of Access Now, Maayan truly felt she made an impact on not only in herself but others with disabilities as well.
