<var>I think that going to the gym is a waste of time and money. Even though that I personally believe that being able to manage my health is very important,I feel that going to the gym is comparatively more costly than working out at home and I prefer working out at home as compared to the gym. I have bought workout equipment like dumbbells and barbells for my personal use at home for a very low price of $100 compared to a gym membership which costs $75 per month. Often times, people hire personal trainers too which adds to the already very costly gym membership which I have to renew monthly.

I used to live a sedentary lifestyle before I entered secondary school, as I was too engrossed in computer gaming and staying at home for almost the whole day. However, after entering secondary school, I developed a habit that has been keeping me fit and healthy.
On Friday and Saturday afternoons, I would play basketball regularly with my family or peers. Basketball is a great way to engage my muscles and improve my hand-eye coordination. Basketball requires me to run and jump to score points for the team and it keep my heart rate pumping, allowing me to lose a great amount of calories. Adding on, after playing basketball, I eat a balance diet to have supple energy to be able to function properly and do my daily task. An example would be , eating 2 servings of vegetables and fruits a day . On normal days, I try to change my cooking methods to steaming instead of frying it to reduce the amount of oily food that I consume. These will help keep me from getting sick regularly as being sick can be very tiring from time to time. At the same time, I can maintain my fitness and stamina on the basketball court too!

Thoughtful personal responses devp to a some extent; vocab is OK;

They seem to be very diligent in their training. I reckon they must be very willing to do this tough activity. as for me, someone who rarely goes to the gym, lifting weights will definitely be a difficult task for me and that i will not be able to persist. so, i admire the efforts and hardwork they put into it. Moreover, i know that there are a lot of events in gyms that attracts people do such training to participate in them. i think that it is a really great idea as not only it urges people to train and become more fit, they also get the interact with their friends as well as meet many more people of the same interest
     Ideas not developed; what attractive events in the gym are you talking about?
Would you want to try it one day since you mentioned you think you would not be able to persist the training?

I agree that going to the gym is an expensive waste of time. Firstly, for many of us, there may not be a gym nearby our houses. This would mean that we need to travel a long distance to get there. This is inconvenient and precious time may be lost. Secondly, at the gym, we are exercising around many unfamiliar people and this causes us to be self conscious and overthink about whether people are judging us. Furthermore, the working out in the gym may not be as pleasant as working out outdoors such as the park where there is a beautiful scenery to enjoy. I recall when I used to work out at the gym and dreaded going there as all I remembered from my work outs were the pain in my muscles and feeling as though the more muscular people were looking down on scrawny me. I decided to cancel my membership and work out in the park by running and doing basic stretches after my friend prompted me to. It was the best decision I made. Work outs are not torturous anymore and I actually look forward to them. On the contrary, some may argue that going to the gym is not an expensive waste of time as you pay for the top notch equipment as well as supervision while exercising. I agree that this may be advantageous to an extent but it is not very necessary as we can learn to supervise ourselves and there are alternatives for the equipment. In conclusion, by working out either at home or at the nearby park, we can kill two birds with one stone. It is cheaper and more efficient.

Unclear at the last; what does killing two birds with one stone refer to exactly? what type of activities can be done outdoors? can u relate the expenses and fear of being looked down upon on to your experiences as a teenager in the gym?

In order to keep fit and healthy, I run three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I always aim to run at least five kilometres every training, I train at Bishan Stadium on weekdays and on weekends I would go to MBS for a change of scenery. I would record down my timings and try to break my personal records every time. I started running as I joined cross country as my CCA in secondary school, and I started to develop interest in the sport. As I run competitively, I have to watch my diet by cutting out fast food and junk food like potato chips, only having it once in awhile. This has helped me keep fit and healthy and improve my stamina and strength. On occasions, I would ask my other cca friends to join me for a run together, or maybe even have a race between ourselves for fun. I would recommend running to others as it actually brings about many great benefits to our daily lives. I have become more disciplined in my school work, while ensuring that I manage my time to balance school and running. Running has allowed me to be less stressed, which lets me be mentally healthy as well.
personal responses devp to a large extent; vocab is good;

Yes, it is a waste of time to do this activity. We have exam so we need time to study and not focus on going to the gym. We can get our daily exercise by walking to school or taking part in the exercises during PE. However, the gym has essential equipment and trainers that helps to enhance our performance effectively.
Exam are around the corner, so we have to start studying instead of focusing on strengthening our body. We can also find other means of keeping healthy such as eating vegetables or fruits, drinking plenty of water and also help detoxify our body, keeping us healthy especially in this stressful periods.
Strengthening our body takes a long time, be it months or years, it’s not possible to immediately boost our performance hence we have to go to the gym for prolonged period, which can become a huge waste of time as many people may not have the patience to wait that long. Furthermore, time management is necessary as we have to balance our work or school lives with our personal lives. If more time is allocated towards our personal lives, our studies may gradually deteriorate hence affecting our mentality as we doubt ourselves. When both physical and mental state are unbalanced, the person will adopt an unhealthy lifestyle. This may negatively effect their future and their relationships with the people around them.

You went off track by talking about your studies;
no link between ideas; " If more time is allocated towards our personal lives, our studies may gradually deteriorate hence affecting our mentality as we doubt ourselves. "--> makes no sense here;

Something I do to keep fit is to make a daily workout routine. First, I would start with my warmup, which consists of stretches. This is important as it keeps our muscles and joints flexible and strong to do the exercises later on, and to avoid any risk of injuries during the workout.

The first exercise would be squats. I do this exercise as it boosts athletic ability and strength, which improve several different athletic performances simultaneously, including sprint time and explosive strength. This benefits me in my napfa test in several ways. It helps with my shuttle run since it improves sprint time. It also gives me an advantage in pull ups since it boosts my explosive strength.

Next would be planking. This strengthen my core muscles and can make everyday movements like turning, bending and standing easier. It also improve my balance and maintain a good back posture. In a 2018 study that compared core muscles activation during a plank with back squats found that back squats resulted in greater activation of the muscles that support your back. Based on this findings, the researchers recommended targeting the core muscles with back squats to reduce the risk of injury and to boost athletic performance.

Ending is a bit abrupt; Vocab is good; maybe end off by summing up how creating a daily workout routine has benefitted you , e.g. better sleep patterns, alertness the next day etc.., relieve stress

i disagree as there are multiple benefits such as being able to learn a lot from gym enthusiasts and instructors on how to stay fit via workouts and diets. In addition, gym memberships can also come with nutrition consultants in order to suggest the best possible foods and routines to apply to ones specific lifestyle.
i disagree because ppl at the gym can resolve their daily troubles by treating the gym as a social outlet. those who go to the gym may be facing troubles involving mental or physical health issues and in the process, can make friends who can support them and act as a social pillar to help these individuals to rebound from the depths of these problems and come up better than before. ...fitness communities

however, i do agree as it is never guaranteed that those going to the gym are using their time there to its fullest. there are some people who apply for a gym membership with the drive to make a positive lifestyle change. however this drive may deplete over time, leading to them going to the gym for the sake of going, hence doing nothing particularly productive there. as such, in the long run they are wasting their own hard earned money and time.

on the other hand, most people who sign up for a gym membership are usually those who strongly seek to improve their QoL in the long term, hence since they have already paid for the membership, they would be incentivised or forced to use their time and resources at the gym to its maximum potential.
in conclusion, those who are motivated to visit the gym can help those who are not make the best decision with their money and instead persuade them that a personal quick hack gym at home would be much more productive.

vocab and structuring of ideas can be better and be made clearer; conclusion is confusing; youre getting gym goers to encourage ppl who dont gym to stop coming to the gym?

To keep myself fit and healthy, some simple things i do on an everyday basis will be taking the stairs instead of lifts, stopping a few bus stops earlier so that i will have to walk to my house, Since running is not preferable for me, i would go for walks a few times a week along with my friends at the Bishan active park. Consistently Doing these simple actions daily, helps to maintain my stamina and maintain an active lifestyle.

I also try to change my diets to be healthier by adding more vegetables and reducing the amount of fried food in my everyday meals. Vegetables helps to improve digestive system as they contain many essential vitamins and fibres. After my walks, i would usually consume food rich in protein like baked chicken or beef, along with a cup of milk, as protein contains essential amino acids which are beneficial for muscle and bone growth. On top of that, i also track down my daily calories consumption so i would know what i can improve in my diet.

The benefits i have gained from doing all these are having the stamina to play sports that i have to play during pe and also the NAPFA fitness test. Although running isn’t really my type of thing, however, with the tips my friend has given me to do better at NAPFA 2.4KM run and my lifestyle, i was able to do better for NAPHA compared to the previous times i did it. I would often ask Ethan Tan Yi Bin, the 2nd fastest runner of age 15 in Singapore, for tips on how to run more efficiently . One of the tips he told me was to pace myself properly ~~ do not run too fast at the start and have no stamina to finish the run. He told me to run at a pace of 5.30 during the test. Heeding his advice, it worked like a charm and i improved drastically.

Lastly, me doing all these really make helped me to keep my health up and im falling sick less and saving the money of having to go to doctors very frequent. I would definitely recommend some of the everyday things i do to kick off a healthier lifestyle as it does not require a lot of time. Bruce Lee once said “ i do not fear a man who practices a 1000 kicks for a day ; but i fear a man who practices a kick for a 1000 days .” ,hence from this quote i can infer that consistency is key. Thus the small things we do will accumulate to be a big part of life, it would be really worth it and if anyone who does it will feel healthier in no time.

Quite comical; it'd be good if the last part you repeat again what is it exactly that you do to keep fit and healthy; so maybe u state 'running or walking' clearly or else meaning is lost

I disagree that gym is an expensive waste of time. The gym has many facilities and equipment available for public use. For example, treadmills, stationary bike, dumbbells, squat racks and weighted ropes. These things to hard find and buy for personal use at home, which is why going the gym is worth the money and time for one to spend. Which if you come think of it, you only pay per hour and not for the equipment itself. Hence it is worth your dollars.

Next, the motivation you can get from going to the gym is far more effective than working out at home. For example, in the gym, I am able to see other people exercising and keeping fit. This boosts my motivation and momentum to continue to keep exercising and not give. Unlike working out at home, I am more prone to getting distracted by my shows, my comfortable bed and many more. Hence, the difference in atmosphere makes it worth the money and, in a way, forces me to keep fit and keep up.

However, working out at home can be a more affordable and safer option. This is because when you sign up for the gym, you will have to pay a certain amount every month. The average monthly gym subscription is $193.75 in Singapore which is difficult for us to pay. Hence why it is better to exercise at home where you can buy cheap equipment such as dumbbells and yoga mats rather then use gym machines. There are also at home no equipment workouts we can follow on YouTube. Some really popular youtubers are Emi Wong, Chloe Ting, Pamela Reif and Zack Wong.

Overall I feel that it boils down to the individuals themselves and on their own personal preferences. If one prefers to go to the gym for the atmosphere while the other prefers to workout at home, it is up to them to decide what is tickles their fancy.
