There is definitely something wrong with the narrator, she may not be depressed, rather insane, but something is wrong with her. The narrator and John both are right about her resting, she shouldn't be doing anything vigorous, but she cant just sit around she has to have some type of stimulus to keep her from going crazy, which she does do. John was right about her needing to see someone else for a diagnosis because his diagnosis was not correct. He was also right about her needing to forget about the wallpaper but he does not handle any of these things in the right way. John does not give his wife any input and is very controlling when he need to give some leverage and listen to her side as well. Both were right and both were wrong its just a matter of what specific point you look at.

Both John and his wife could both be right for many different reasons. John may be right because there may be nothing physically wrong with her. She may only be ¨depressed¨ while she is away. His wife may be right because she knows what she is feeling on the inside. She knows about her true emotions and how she is really feeling. As she describes in the short story, she obviously has some kind of weird feelings that John doesn´t really know about.

John and his wife could both be right in different ways. John may be right because he feels that the there is something wrong with the narrator. Because of his job, he could be qualified to say that there is something wrong. He thinks she is depressed, which may not be the case. However, there is something of some sort wrong with her. His wife, the narrator, could be right because she knows internally what is going on with herself. Only she knows her true feelings and emotions better than anyone else. Her husband is very controlling and will not let her do the things she likes to do, which does the opposite of what he is trying to do.

Both John and his wife make good cases as to why they are both right. John believes that she has hysteria, which can be true from some of her signs. John is also a physician so he also knows what he is talking about. You can see that there is something wrong with the narrator, but we dont know for sure what is wrong. His wife knows what she feels and understands her emotions more than someone who is not her that just sees what is happening to her. They are both right in the fact that she should not be doing any activites that can strain her mind to much, such as writing. John is also right about his wife needing to forget the wallpaper but he does not help her in any way to forget the source of her depression and troubles.

He understands that something weird is going on but not necessarly thinking she is mentallly ill. John is a physician so he knows what he is talking about leading him to think that it is hysteria. But the narrator definitley has something going on that isn't right. His wife could be right in the fact that she mentallly is struggling to cope with things. This makes her believe she is ill because she understands her feelings and emotions more than anyone else.

She should not do anything too strenuous with her mind when battling an illness. His wife might be right as well. Although she shouldn't be doing much, being trapped in a nearly empty room doing absolutely nothing is not going to help. I think his wife is right and should continue to write, but should not be doing anything much more than that. They are both right in their own way.

Both John and his wife both have their own opinions, however they may both be right. It is clear that the narrator has something is wrong, it seems to be something mentally wrong but nonetheless there is a problem. According to John the only way to heal is to rest and not doing any strenuous work, and if she is depressed, maybe a break is just what she needs, to get away from her propblems. On the other hand, the narrator can not just sit there her whole life waiting to get better, she needs something to do to keep her from losing it and start seeing things. The narrator is the only person who knows how she is feeling, and only she knows what she has to do to feel back to herself.

John thinks it is something to not really worry about because he is basing his analysis off of her physical state. He thinks that her mental state may be weak but it's not serious. While the she is sure that there is something seriously wrong with her mental health. So on a physical stand point John is right but on a mental standpoint she is right.

It seems clear that he knows something is wrong, but without any of the knowledge of whats going on, he is unable to give an actual treatment other than the rest cure. John's wife may be depressed, but as the reader we know she is mentally unstable. The narrator could be correct in her own way. She didn't like the house, which tells us something is going with it anyway, and she doesn't like the wallpaper. She doesn't think that this treatment is needed, and she thinks she should be doing something other than sitting inside all of the time (going insane).

John just does not understand his wife's condition, however he could be right about her needing to rest and relax. However, his wife is also right in her point of view about how her husband is handling the situation. Although her condition may not be extremely concerning, John should still be taking her seriously as his wife, and showing more thought about what she thinks of her condition.
