The design of the diagnostic test was kinda easy because thanks to an AI I was able to ask for the specifications that I wanted to assess and it gave me the possible questions to put on my test, so it was more about read and choose which questions were better to evaluate the students.

And about the design of the initial interview, was easier than I expected because I thought about the most general information that I wanted to know about the students, so I created an interview based on their family support/context and the use on English on their daily life.

So, now I’m expecting that students don’t struggle a lot with the diagnostic test.

Creating the diagnostic exam was a challenge because it was difficult to include all the necessary topics in one evaluation, especially because it was designed for children. I had to add images to most of the questions to help them understand better, which took time and creativity, but I know that an exam for children without images doesn’t work at all. Also, I realized that evaluation is an important part of achieving better results. The personal interview was an interesting part because it allowed me to imagine my students’ answers and reflect on what I know about them. I believe it’s very important to consider their characteristics and needs. In conclusion, there are many aspects to take into account when designing a diagnostic exam like the objectives and the adaptation for the age and level of students. I hope to improve the process next time.

Preparing the diagnostic exam helped me understand how important it is to create activities that match students' age and level. One of the biggest challenges was making sure the instructions and questions were simple and clear for children. I used images and visual support because I realized that without them, many students might not understand what to do. Another thing I noticed is that evaluation is not only about testing students it also helps teachers plan better lessons. By looking at the results and listening to students during the interview, I could learn more about their interests, skills, and problems with English. This part was very valuable because it gave me a clearer picture of each learner. I also saw how important it is to include different types of tasks, like speaking, reading, and listening, to get a complete idea of their level. In the future, I want to improve the way I design the test and make it even more interactive and fun for kids. This experience made me realize that good evaluation takes time, but it really helps both students and teachers.

Design the diagnostic assessment and the interview for my kindergarten students was an interesting experience, although it involved some challenges. The most difficult part was thinking about how to assess young learners without making them feel stressed or uncomfortable. For this reason, I focused on using simple language and visual activities.

I decided to assess only basic vocabulary, as well as some listening and reading skills, since it is unrealistic to expect kindergarten students to produce spoken or written English when they are still developing these skills in their native language.

The interview was easier to design, and I realized that, although the questions are simple, they provide important information about the students’ environment and their exposure to English outside the classroom.

In general, I think this was a meaningful process that helped me to understand better how to adapt learning activities depending on the age, level, and needs of my students.
