(A) Going into this topic I thought I knew quite a bit about this topic between all my internships in elementary classrooms and just remembering from when I learned it. But when I got into this topic I realized I did not know a lot and I had to relearn some of the topic.
Section 2. (C): What I found frustrating about this topic was it was difficult to find different examples other then the ones in engage ny. Doing the math cast and not being able to find other examples is sometimes frustrating because you don't want to always use the same examples.
Section 3.(C). I feel this math cast was the best one I have done so far so I would give myself a 90. I think I did well on this one and not the greatest on the rest because I had better examples and I feel I explained well.
Section 4.( F) One goal I would set for myself next time, would be to be more confident in doing the math casts.

Section 1. (D): Some ways I think I improved in this topic are learning how to explain step by step what I need to do. Also, knowing different ways to show in a drawing how I got the answer.
Section 2. (C): What I found frustrating with this math cast was for each example was different pieces I had to break down, so explaining it took me to long. So, therefore I had to go back and make my math cast shorter. It was frustrating because I worked on it to get it perfect and it was still not how I wanted it.
Section 3. (d): What I want people to notice when they look at my work is how much I explain thoroughly through my examples so not just my peers but children can see how I got to my answers, by breaking down each part.
Section 4. (A): One thing I would like to improve on why doing my math cast is being confident why explaining. I feel I think to much instead of just doing it the way I know how. I naturally talk really fast so I slow down to talk, but sometimes I talk to slow.

I am Kassidy Keefer and I was born here in Carthage New York on a 400 cow dairy farm. But when my parents first found out they were pregnant my grandma was so excited hoping it was a girl, because my parents didn’t find out what they were having and my uncle had 3 boys. My mom had picked one girl name Gracie and one boy name Kaleb. My dad didn’t want to pick a name until the baby was born because he wanted to see what baby looked like. When my mom had me, my dad said I didn’t look like a Gracie. So my parents went through baby books and still couldn’t decide on a name. My mom was in the hospital for 5 days and they still couldn’t agree on a name. I was baby Keefer, they went through magazines, books, tv shows and my dad went home and looked through old baby books. Then my mom went through a magazine and saw Cassidy and my dad said he liked it but with a K. Plus when my mom was growing up she loved the partridge family with Dave Cassidy and his brother Sean. Then they had to decide on a middle name. My cousin Ashley was there and said, “Marie please, because that’s my middle name.” My parents liked it because it went with Kassidy. As I grew up, I was the youngest of the grandchildren and the only child so needless to say I was the spoiled one. I grew up going to Carthage kindergarten to junior year. Since I was little I always said I wanted to be a teacher, but I had teachers in elementary school tell me I was to dumb and would never be able too. So since I was about 7 years old I had no confidence in myself, I always second guessed myself with everything I did. Until the day I met my sixth grade reading teacher. Mrs. Craig is the reason I changed my mind and realized I can be a teacher no matter what anyone says. She is a motivator always pushing but in a good way. She always told me to follow my heart and do what you love to do. She taught me to be myself, be kind-hearted, to love what I do, and push myself through all the struggles. Mrs. Craig is the reason I chose my career to be a teacher. I want to be an impact on a student’s life like she was to mine.

What part or parts of the course did you find most helpful in improving your mathematical reasoning and why? (For example: group work, creating a portfolio, class activities, textbook, livebinder, etc...):
What part I found most helpful during this course was working together as groups. I feel like this helped me a lot in this course because we all have different ways of learning things. It was useful because when we were doing activities or our group quizzes we could put different parts of what everyone said into the problem. Also, having other people explain how they got something is helpful because we all have different ways that we can understand something.

What part or parts of the course did you find least helpful in improving your mathematical reasoning and why?
What parts I felt that are least helpful from this course are doing all the homework and some days not going over it at all. Also, sometimes I felt the class activities were not helpful, maybe using more materials like blocks and different ways we can teach a child. I feel these two things were important to this class because that's what we spent most of our time doing.

Section 1. (A): When starting this chapter I remember doing place value as child. What I felt helped me remember this topic more was when I did my internships in a couple elementary classrooms, I got the privilege to do math with them.
Section 2. (C): What I found frustrating about this topic is trying to understand it in a child's perspective and knowing how to teach a child when I sometimes struggle to understand in my own way.
Section 3. (d): The one thing I want people to notice when they look at my work is, no matter how much you struggle hard work with pay off.
Section 4. (a): One thing I would like to improve upon is to not get so frustrated when I'm struggling and just work through it.
