To be honest, I have always struggled with Quiet Times and Personal Bible Studies. Coming from a Christian school, it was hard for me to open what had become a textbook everyday. I know the Bible is far from a text book, but when you use it in school to do so much work, it begins to take on that form. I absolutely hated it. I wanted to dive into the Word and explore the wonders which God has stored in it, but I continuously found myself only getting through a few days worth of reading, only to go without for large periods of time. Now that I am in college, I am surrounded by groups, such as my Christian Fraternity, who are constantly encouraging me to get into the Word. The encouragement has helped tremendously; however, I encountered another problem. What should I read? And then after I do read something, I felt, "What did I miss?" I am always amazed at hearing others recount their revelations of Scripture and seeing how different of a message they encountered. So as I struggled with what I was going to read last night, God popped this idea into my head: To start a blog where multiple people could post about what God is revealing to them. Specifically, the idea was for multiple people to be reading the same passage of scripture so the blog becomes a kind of online bible study, but I would love to hear anything which God is showing you! So be free, Post His Revelations!!

Until a base of participants is substantial I will be posting through the book of Psalms:

I personally love this passage! I had to memorize it in High School. As many times as I recited it, however, I never focused on the words. It is a very blunt picture of the righteous and the wicked. My youth minister pointed out how there is progression of sin in verse 1. I feel like that is how I am with most sin... I walk by it observing what its all about, then a stick around to try it out, then eventually I am sitting in the middle of it... a part of it. Blessed is the man whose delight is in the Law of the Lord! This has become oh so relevant in my life this past year. God doesn't want us to sin, but I feel that He wants us to focus on HIm more! I find that when we make Christ our delight, our goal we are running towards, we tend not to trip up as often. Think about it though: If you are running from the bear, your focus is on the bear not necessarily what is in front of you... causing you to trip up on the misc. obstacles that litter your way. Plus your whole existence in that moment is based on fear. On the contrary, when we are chasing a desire, lets say a hurdler in currently in second place, the obstacles become quite visible because we are chasing something, not worried about running from anything, but to the goal ahead. Run to Christ and in turn you will outrun sin, because He already beat it!.

I understand a lot more can be taken from this chapter but God has really been putting the above on my heart lately!

Psalm 2

I believe the first part of this psalm is an absolute reflection of humanity. How many times have I tried to go about things my way only for them to fail? I am not pointing to the sky, telling God that I am not doing it His way, but by my self-righteous arrogance, I am. All the while, God is just sitting up there laughing at how silly I am being... yet I believe he is also heart broken. He has so much planned out for us if we were only willing to follow His plans (Jer 29:11). We, however, tend to chase our own ideas, and that is when we end up hurting ourselves. God just wants to be our Father. Someone who we will hang out with, yes, but someone who we respect and understand his authoritative power. He has everything and is willing to bless us if we only ask. After always hearing the "Ask and it shall be given unto you" spill, I always wondered why I haven't been given all of the stuff I asked for! God has so much in store for me and for you!! We ask for things that are so small and insignificant compared to the riches that God has for us. We ask for a doll house and God has nations!! We should in equal parts take pride in God and fear Him. And finally, We must start looking for Him before we mess up... We should take refuge before the storm, not after it! Refuges only are affective if you are inside of them before the storm, yet we always turn to God after it is over! Please take this to heart as I have this past week, to run to God now, so we are not running from sin later.

It has really hit me today how perfect Psalms are for prayer. You can pray with the themes of many passages, but Psalms can literally be read verbatim as a prayer! And how true and powerful those words would be! I have really tried to read deeper into the Bible as I am going through this. I could always pull out the shallow applications but more personal truths are arising from Scriptures. I always heard about 10,000 people rising against me from the Bible and songs, but never thought that there were truly people out against Christianity... I mean obviously there are some, but I mean like in my ever day life. After reading this, I don't feel like it is a whole person that we have to deal with, but the ideology of the world which manifests in the hearts of people. It is when we are apathetic that these ideas seep into us... and corrode us from the inside out. That is why we must shield ourselves with God! How should we go about doing this??? Although a sword is typically a weapon, it is a very useful defensive mechanism... Our sword being the Bible! I once heard that if you don't have the Bible in your hand, it better be in your head! How true!! I am guilty of this myself, but if we are being constantly attacked, should we not be constantly prepared? God is on our side but we need to be plugged in to be able to see what is going on. To see the attacks. So I charge you to arm yourself and not be afraid, but stand courageous in the face of the 10,000!!!
