When there is a larger difference between the concentrations of molecules of a solute in certain substances, there is a larger difference in kinetic energy in the substances. This translates to the Eggsperiment because in solutions with higher salt concentrations, the rate of diffusion aka concentration gradient was higher due to the larger difference in kinetic energy between the salt solution and inside the egg. This caused the H2O molecules in the egg to collide more rapidly than in the salt solution, which lead to more water molecules leaving the egg than were entering it. This caused the mass of the egg to change more dramatically when there was a larger difference in the H2O concentration of the solution it was soaked in.

This is because when the concentration gradient was steeper, the egg lost more mass. This is because when there is a higher percentage of the solute, there are more molecules in the given space, which permits more molecules to go across the membrane. This shows that the rate of diffusion is affected by the concentration gradient.

The molecules are always moving, and the more salt molecules that collide cause there to be more kinetic energy.

If the egg was put in both solutions for the same amount of time, and the only experimental variable being the concentration gradient of the solutions, then the concentration gradient must affect the rate of diffusion since the rates were different. Also, since there are more molecules that are moving in the 10% solution, there are more collisions between the molecules, which creates more kinetic energy and makes the molecules move faster, which increases the rate of diffusion.
