City Gives Nonprofit $546,000 Grant - SJR (May 7)

In the article I read, the united states government gave a large sum of money to a nonprofit organization that helps build houses and sets up a good life for homeless female veterans and their families. It is a set of many apartments that are to house one -two female veterans families in order to help get them back on their feet after coming home from the military. This deals with economics because the government grant was given because the government wants this organization in business longer and the money shows their support for the idea. I completely support this and love that the government has taken action in order to help. (114 words)

This article is talking about how farmers are getting the price floor of money back for every cent a consumer spends on their food. It says that farmers are only getting around 8 cents for every dollar a consumer pays for their products. It says that the reason for this low price floor is because consumers want everything pre-cut and ready to eat, so the processing for all of that takes money away from the farmers. I feel that farmers deserve quite a bit more money per dollar for their hard work. (92 words)

The article I read talks about how the economy has recovered immensely since Trump took office. It also says that unemployment fell steadily since Obama took office and is now finally starting to rise again. The author is saying how pay raises should be coming around the corner soon due to the fact the economy is doing better. This deals with economics because the minimum wage right now is a price floor and she wants it to rise just like the supply of unemployed people have declined. I disagree with this because I feel that minimum wage being raised will just cause inflation with goods at the moment and it will do nothing but make the value of the american dollar go down. (123 words)

This article is talking about how oil and petroleum is going up in price these past few weeks and a lot of people are saying it is Trump's fault due to his latest decision. This is one of the reasons, but another reason is that the supply and demand of oil is unbalanced. Supply and demand are increasing steadily and oil companies are having a hard time keeping up with the demand of it in our large country. I feel that the united states relies very heavily on the supply of oil and our demand is always present for it.

This article talks about how women don't make the same amount as men do in the work force and about how their earnings drop about 20% after having their first child. Men's wages have no effect due to children and the article was stating how unfair it is and how that is the best mothers day present. I feel that the US needs to push towards equal pay because I intend to marry rich and I cannot do that if my wife and I are making 0.75 cents for every dollar a man makes.

The article is talking about how american's might start working till later in life due to the amount of social security benefits that come from retiring after 70 1/2 years. All benefits peak when people reach age 70. I think this is pretty ridiculous because people should be able to enjoy life after they turn 60 because a lot of people don't even live to be 70 and the ones who do end up in nursing homes or not being able to do much. They should have a chance to live in retirement before they become unable to enjoy it. (100 words)
