In the script, Ferocious is introduced as a Christian man with very strong believes and is often seen promoting his religion to others. He appears to be a dangerous man, with a second instinct to kill, one he is often seen struggling to control. We also learn through his battle with the gladiators that he carries and immense strength with his body. Managing to kill up to six gladiators with a sword and no armor. This further hints his rather big build and his choleric nature one similar to a mad bull. His staring eyes and thick neck adding to his believe. Through his contradictory appearances, we learn he struggles with maintaining his Christian beliefs whilst managing his temper.

Ferrovius continuously promotes religion because of the significant effects it had on his life. This leads him to believe that must enlighten others and change their lives and he did his. He is often senseless and encourages others to do extreme things in the name of religion. Additionally, he tries to do multiple good deeds to repent for brutal actions from his past. but often fails due to his temper. He also owns a bad temper that often costs him his religion. As mentioned by Androcles, he put a man in critical condition as he felt shame for being slapped, later crying at his hospital bed. Similarly, he killed as many as six gladiators due to his temper.

Actions (what does the character do that reveal their character)
Throughout the play, we learn about Ferrovius's beliefs and struggles through his actions. In act two when he crosses paths with Lentulus, he remains persistent in calling him to Christianity. Constantly pestering him with the idea of converting. Furthermore, when questioned about why he chooses to stay quiet instead of fighting back he remarks, "I fear God more than man; at least I try to." This indicates his piety and dedication to his religion; Additionally, he proposes his struggles with certain beliefs. We gain more insight into his concerns when he arrives at the roman arena, as he prepares to enter the arena. In the setting, we see Androcles and Lavinia promote to him the idea of dying a martyr, to which he accepts. However, once he enters he begins to see red and kills 6 gladiators with a sword. We see him later regret his actions justifying that he saw red and had to kill. This highlights his difficulties with regards to his views. As despite promoting his religion he too has to cope with accepting certain aspects. Therefore, through his actions, Ferrovious explicates his struggles to the audience.
