We believe this is a serious problem because it affects children in many ways, changing their behavior, thinking and habits just to fit the standard and be with the majority.

The problem occurs in social media, which could be from an email and the most common social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and common online chats, such as WhatsApp and Telegram, and even applications like YouTube as well they can be used for this.

When children use social media, they sometimes get addicted to using their electronic devices and start using them in excess, sometimes watching social platforms such as youtube in the night instead of sleeping, and sometimes, they even forget to eat or go to the bathroom just because of watching social media. 

There are some solutions for this problem, solutions such as parental controls, who are programs that ban the entry to networks in devices that have this control activated, this solution is probably the most used in case parents decide to implement it. On the other hand there is another option some people decide to use, and is forbid the use of technology to minors, although this solution is increasingly forgotten.

Employment status: It does not influence since we are talking about children.

Education level: From Elementary school to highschool, but it is fundamental that you must know how to use the internet.

Number of children: At least the family must have 1 child for the problem to apply.

  • Countries with enough money to pay a phone, computer or tablet for kids

Opinions: Parents are relaxed regarding their child’s usage of social media and they don’t know the consequences of allowing their children to excessively use social media.

Interest: Children must show interest in technology and social media, otherwise the problem will not develop.

These measure would also apply to accounts that have been already created, since at the time of implementing the new politics it would also be necessary to verify the identity of already existing accounts, on the other hand, to protect the privacy of the user when creating or verifying their account, the document would not be associated with their account in any way and it will be deleted from the database after a short period of time has passed since the registration, this is because this is considered as sensitive information that cannot be freely distributed because this represents a crime. We are optimistic about the implementation of this solution, since, although we know that this will not solve the problem in its entirety, this is  because people will find some way to bypass it, but we believe that implementing it is harder for the problem to show up.

We believe that this idea has not been implemented because it would generate a drop in the numbers of social media, because many users of social networks are under 18 years of age, and despite the fact that we consider minors those who are under 16  years, even the number of minors under 16 is quite high, with our idea, these minors under 16 could not easily access a social media account without a document that identifies them as of legal age and the reduction of users would generate lower income  monetary for social media and for this reason they do not apply our idea yet. Some things could go wrong, the most logical is the reduction of users and lower monetary income for the companies, although these after a while would stabilize and return to more normal statistics, but for a time there would be many losses of money for the companies, another problem that could arise is mistrust on the part of users, since they are sensitive issues, but it would also normalize over time since they are data that is not shared normally, but for a period of time users would not trust  in companies, and finally it could also not be a 100% effective solution since if a minor gets access to an identity document they could try to make an account, but this would free companies from being responsible,  since it would be part of the responsibility of a father not to give his identity document to his children, but it is something that could easily be solved with a two-step verification, this verification could work if identity documents are linked to a phone number, making it more difficult for this problem to occur.

  • National Registry: in this case the registry would be our ally since we are improving a social problem would be supported by the government. They would be fundamental for our proposals, since to discover the people we would have to make use of that data.

  • Interpol: Being a problem that this organization is also in charge of, it will collaborate a lot in the process, both financially and with personnel and information that allows us to develop our solution.

  • Unicef: This, being an organization in charge of minors and their protection, would be of great help for protection and mainly as a public figure to promote our proposal, in addition to financial aid.

Lastly, we found that even though social networks have a lot of controversial thoughts regarding their privacy and personal data handling and is very possible that people will not want to give their identification document in order to use social medias, social medias control our personal information in order for it to protect public interests, privacy and self image of everyone of its users; in other words, social networks have access to our personal information so that other people don’t get it and use it with bad intentions. Furthermore, we found that there have been a lot of cases in which kids are being harassed by pedofiles on social networks. On the other hand, according to statistical studies, it shows that thanks to the lockdown, people have been using more social media than ever before, also, this study showed that there have also been more cases of pedofiles accusing minors on social media during the lockdown; if you analyze this, you will see that social medias are places in which kids are always abused. On the other hand, another study shows that in 2017, students from ages 12-18 were being bullied and 15% were bullied online, also, in 2019, another study was made which said that an estimated 15.7% of high school students were being cyber bullied. This data shows that the amount of cases of cyberbullying have risen throughout the years and if nothing is made to stop this, it will keep rising.
