Many see the Neolithic revolution as one of the greatest successes mankind has ever accomplished. However, I see it differently. Rather than living our lives day to day, as it should be, we are forced to be slaves to ourselves because of a decision made eons ago that we had no say in. We are forced to accept our way of life as more civilized and advanced, yet we as humans are constantly engaged in violence against one another, class wars, and gender roles. We have made it so that there is one group of people above another, which is against our natural laws. Done.

With the bad comes the good. Even with these new conflicts and social classes never seen before we also get to escape the endless cycle of "Hunt,Prepare,Sleep" and specialize as individuals. We get to expand and understand the with our ever developing brain once we take the step toward civilization and agriculture. Done.

We've reached civilization and our agricultural means are mass produced. So far, that's brought us once again nothing but class war and conflict that has been seen ever since this revolution has occurred. Our lives are always going to be a neverending cycle, for example: We all wake up, go to school or work, come home and repeat the whole process over and over and over again until we're dead. While we were "uncivilized", we did have free time, too. As Crash Course History described, they had more than enough time to do those things had they wanted to. So, yes, with the bad comes the good but pre-agriculture, there was more good than bad. Done.

It is true that we went from one cycle to another, but in this cycle there is an end. We stretch out from the school cycle to the one we choose with the specialization of our choice. Like William said, we as human beings were trapped but once we free ourselves we picked the cycles we put ourselves in. Done.

Whether it's a field you chose or not, it's still a cycle. We went from being free to roam where we'd like and to do whatever we like to being slaves to ourselves. The evidence of that is in the deterioration in our bones and overall health- which is explained on page four of Diamonds study. I quote: "the farmers had a nearly 50% increase in enamel defects indicative of malnutrition, a fourfold increase in iron deficiency anemia, a threefold rise in bone lesions reflecting infectious disease in general, and an increase in degenerative conditions of the spine, probably reflecting a lot of hard physical labor." Done.

"Had", now after a long time of trial and error we have changed the ways we live and now we live longer more fulfilling lives with fewer complications. We don't have to worry about following the herds when they see fit with the ability to store out food and bad years still feed the family. Done.

The complications overall haven't decreased, they've just changed and become more drastic. For example, we don't have to follow herds anymore, but we have to follow other people in order to fit in somewhere, to be seen, to be heard. Our human needs have changed and in turn we have become nothing but sensitive, diseased, and weak individuals. I can't say we should go back to gathering, because that decision is irreversible- but I can say that the decision was a poor one.

The Neolithic Age allowed for the storing of crops. The Paleolithic peoples had to constantly find food and shelter, like what Blue Cheese mentioned. Maybe they had "leisure time" but they didn't have any stored food to fall back on if they were starving.

Paleolithic
I completely agree with what ranch stated about the Neolithic era being
a distorted form of the Paleolithic era. In the Paleolithic era humanity was void of war, roles and social barriers. The Neolithic era took what was great about the Paleolithic area and twisted it. They took the free lives of people back then and shoved them into repetitive boring routines having people battle against each other than with each other. Done.
