Many like Cacti have thick waxy skin to reduce water loss, shallow but wide root systems to collect rain quickly, and spines instead of leaves to protect against animals and conserve moisture.</p><p><br></p><p>Why do you think having spines instead of leaves is helpful for desert plants?</p>]]></description>
