It opened my eyes to what it would be like to have to go to a school for the first time and being an outcast. This is different from what I am used to, because I've been at school with my friends since kindergarten. I never had to move schools or worry about making new friends. I can see how difficult this must be. Normally, those books would bore me, but this one kept me interested the whole time.  I liked how it was still true to the facts, but a the plot was interesting and like a realistic fiction book. But I liked how when she got the right teacher, she learned she was actually really smart and her image of herself really changed. Mr. Terupt, a protagonist, is a teacher to a class of totally different kids who don't get along. When an accident happens, all the kids learn to appreciate Mr. Terupt and each other. This story impacted me because it showed me how a tragedy can bring all types of different people together. One thing I liked about this novel was how it was written. It was all the same story, but each chapter was told from a different student's point of view.
