In Hamlet Act 3, Scene 2, lines 322-433, Rosencrantz and Guilderstern enter and inform Hamlet that King Claudius is upset. Hamlet sarcastically suggest the king should see a doctor. They then tell hamlet that Queen Gertrude wishes to speak with him because she is deeply troubled by his behavior. Rosencrantz tries to get hamlet to open up about his emotions, but Hamlets remain evasive and sarcastic, He then accuses Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to try to manipulate him, comparing himself to a musical instrument that they are attempting to "play" but lack the skill to do so. Polonius enters and reinforces the Queen's request to see Hamlet. Hamlet toys with polonius by making him agree to absurd statements about the shape of the clouds. After Polonius leaves, Hamlets delivers a soliloquy, expressing his intense emotion. He considers that darkness of the night and the violent thought it brings but reminds himself not to harm his mother physically. Instead, he resolves to confront her with harsh words but not violently against her. This passage highlights Hamlet's mistrust of those around him, his frustration at being manipulated, and his internal conflict between action and restraint.

This is a quote presented by Hamlet, the quote informing the readers that Hamlet intends on exposing King Claudius's knowledge of the truth through analyzing his actions along with his reactions in order to give him insight on the kings current inner conflicts and placing his trust in horatio to expose his current state of mind instead of the responsibility relying solely on Hamlet as he expects King Claudius to react in a fit of anger
