In 1940, Congress allowed Cash and Carry arms sales to Britain.<br>6. The Pearl Harbor attacks on December 7, 1941 really pushed the US into WWII.<br>7.The US used a tactic called island hopping to slowly invade and take over Japanese territory.<br>8. Americans did help to liberate France and helped attack Germany, but Russians were doing most of the fighting.<br>9.The war in Europe ended in Berlin on May 8,1945<br>10. War in the Pacific didn't end until August when Japan surrendered when America dropped two nukes on them.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.Americas ideas about foreign policy were shaped by two things, The Great Depression and WW1&nbsp;<br>2. League of nations made by the US but the US never joined.<br>3. The US didn't officially get involved in the war until two years after Hitler invaded Poland, but America was deeply involved in the European war&nbsp; before we actually sent troops.&nbsp;<br>4. September 1940 Congress created the nation's first peace time draft, taking the next step in involvement.&nbsp;<br>5. US froze all Japanese assets here and basically ended all trades between America and Japan&nbsp;<br>6. Germany declared war on United states which then ww2 officially became a world war.&nbsp;<br>7. the US used "island hoping " as the strategy to take control of Japanese controlled islands&nbsp;<br>8. the battle at Guadalcanal went from August 1942 to February 1943<br>9. on June 6th we joined some Brits and Canadians in invading Normandy on D-day and that was the beginning of the end for the Nazis.<br>10. war didn't actually end until May 8th or May 9th 1945 depending on when you got the news.</div>]]></description>
