Who was Hannah Senesh?

Hannah Senesh was a brave woman who gave her life to protect the Jews and her loved ones. Senesh also loved to write and was very talented at it. Hannah Senesh wrote many incredible poems during her early life in the 1930s. Around 1943, Senesh decided to join the British Army to help Partisans fight against the Germans and aid Jewish communities during World War II. Senesh was trained in Europe and was one of the only thirty-three people chosen to cross enemy lines.

What happened to Hannah Senesh?

After Senesh was dropped in Yugoslavia, the Germans captured her right after she was dropped. The Germans took her to prison and tortured her until she would talk. After the Germans realized she wouldn't say anything, they arrested her mother in hopes one of them would give them any information. Senesh and her mother were trapped in the prison cell for months, and eventually Senesh's mother was released but not Hannah. After Hannah Senesh's mother spent a long time trying to get Hannah Senesh out of prison, a German officer offered Senesh to beg for a pardon, but Senesh refused. Hannah Senesh died that day by the German firing squad on November 7th, 1944.
