Basically, there are 5 "Lost Causes". There's Z, Gabby, Andrew, Sabrina, and Justin. Z is dead inside, she's rich and her brother is one of the most popular guys at the school. Gabby has OCD and she's obsessive with doing things right. Andrew believes he has illnesses that he doesn't have. Sabrina is a drug addict who steals to buy drugs and also works at Sonic. Justin is a hot- tempered football player. They all got called to a so-called group therapy where FBI agents had put something in their water which they all drank. I think their main conflict, though will be that whenever they lose control of their emotions their 'power' will be unleashed and they might get into trouble or something. For starters, the serum was created to find Lily's daughter, Samantha. See, Samantha was kidnapped by some handyman and she was killed. Well, Lily and Patricia had the serum already and they were trying to figure out how it would help them. They believed that if they gave it to someone that it would unleash something in the brain like it did for the Lost Causes. What they didn't know was that the serum didn't absorb in the adult brain, because it's already fully developed. That's how, after Lily was killed, Patricia knew to give it to non-fully developed brains like teenagers. Anyway, my opinion on the serum isn't very high, but it definitely helps.
2. Other possible outcomes for the ending? Well, 1, Nash (FBI guy) could've had the antidote that Patricia (FBI woman) said they could take anytime, that she didn't actually have. Then, Sabrina (the only person who didn't know if she wanted to keep her 'power' or not) would've been able to take it (if she decided to take it) and she could be normal. Another possible outcome could've been when Sabrina got in that car accident and didn't live. That would've made Patricia uneasy and since she didn't tell her superior about the serum, she could've let it slip and everything would've ended there. The Lost causes were given a serum to solve a murder that was committed by former lost causes. Gabby's power is called Retrocongnition which means she can see the history of an object whenever she touches it. 
Andrew's power is more-so an ability.. Before the serum he never knew the answer to anything and now everything with numbers,logic and sequences makes sense to him.
Justin's power is called Psychokinesis which means he can move things with his mind.
