Based on Scottish knitwear, the Hilary Grant brand specialises in the use of high quality wools and contemporary geometric patterns that reflect the simplicity of Scandinavian style, creating scarves, blankets and home furnishings with a warm touch and modern aesthetic. Their products cater for the modern consumer's need for minimalist design, with a focus on balancing functionality and design.

My work pursues this same design philosophy, conveying the natural changes in the growing process of hydroponic plants (such as small onions, potatoes and garlic) through the fibrous texture of paper threads and the warmth of wool, while being both modern and functional. The design uses a rich and playful rhythmic pattern with loose orthogonal features to create a relaxed and rhythmic visual experience. I was also inspired by the Swedish-inspired Kilim rug, which is known for its geometric patterns, clear lines and natural tones, and is both a traditional weave and a modern aesthetic.

The contemporary pattern of the piece is combined with an intuitive, optimistic colour palette, with clear lines and recurring motifs, adding a sense of order and modern artistry that creates a warm, natural atmosphere in the home.
