Members of the Ohio National Guard shot at the crowd of protesters, resulting in 4 deaths and nine injuries. Shortly after, a student led force of 4 million students temporarily closed colleges and universities all across the country.</div>]]></description>

This was an attempt to spread rebellion among the South Vietnamese and to also encourage the U.S to back down their involvement in the war. North Vietnam was successful with the Tet Offensive. The massive news coverage of this raised support for the war effort.</div>]]></description>
