**Advance Preparation:  You will need a baking pan containing half grass and half soil prepared ahead of time.  If you have not planted the grass seeds, you can cut sod to fit half of the pan and fill the other half with soil.  Be sure to use sod that has a thick, even coverage of grass.

**Bird seed will grow faster than grass seed.  It will give the same results in the lab.
