I realized that I can push myself to reach any goal I set my mind to and dedicate myself to. I was able to do this with the support of family and friends and dedication.

I learned that flash cards have really helped me study. I am able to look over them and test myself throughout the week leading up to the test. I’ve been working on refining what works for how I study best.

The first picture I found was a picture from the Johnson and Johnson video we watched about how nurses change lives. That video had an immense impact on how I viewed nursing roles in healthcare, and everything we have learned since then has solidified that thought process. The second picture I have is to show how interpersonal relationships between my peers in the cohort and learning from other nurses through hands on experience in clinical has taught me so much about myself and the nursing profession.

I chose a picture of a group of workers that are geared up in PPE from head to toe holding a sign that says “we are a team.” I chose this image to represent that nursing is about teamwork. Nurses are there to care for patients, but in doing so, they work as a team to ensure the best patient care is provided. You will never be alone. I also realized the importance of having a support system of friends and family.

I learned how to manage my time wayyy better than I did in undergrad, but self-care/breaks are still important because if I am too tired or not in the mindset , I won’t retain anything I’m trying to study.

This semester really showed me how much more nurses need to know than just skills. The amount of knowledge needed to be able to think on the fly is substantial, but I have the confidence I will get where I need to go.

The most valuable thing I learned from the semester is that if you don’t know the answer… then it’s probably warfarin. It’s always warfarin.

This semester has taught me the importance of diversification. We are multi-faceted and require a number of different things that may have no correlation to one another. Trying not to spread myself too thin while also honoring all of my needs.

I did not realize important priority setting is, i saw both sides of this at my clinical side with nurses who did prioritize and nurses who did not. One valuable thing I learned this far is to not be so hard on myself especially when I tried my best.

Changing perspective of nursing: I chose the image of clamps holding a board as glue is drying. One of my takeaways from clinicals is that nurses do a lot of basic support for people in vulnerable states who may otherwise "fall apart" without it. Like clamps, they stay in close contact with patients until they are well enough for the support to be released.

This semester has shaped my perception of nursing because I can accomplish more than I know. The sky is the limit.

The image I used to sum this up is an EKG strip, because there has been many ups and down but we keep moving forward. Also, this was always something that is utilized a lot during my job and it’s nice to have a better understanding.

One thing nursing school has taught me was acknowledging my support group. Without the support of my peers, I wouldn’t be in the position that I am in now. One valuable thing from this semester was being consistent and showing up for myself.

Nursing is the most trusted profession, and nurses are leaders. This semester I learned is what I put in is what I’ll get out, it’ll show in what I receive, including my exam results.

Valuable thing I learned: this semester helped to "demystify" nursing for me--I still think of it as an impressive and skilled and technical field, but also one that, at the end of the day, is a job made up of many small tasks. And I think that we're capable of rising to the occasion and becoming good nurses.
