I feel it’s extremely easy to overlook our own emotions and for us to put up a front that everything is fine. It is much, much easier to lie to yourself and say that everything in your life is okay. For many people, coming to terms with how they feel can completely cripple them, so their front of being okay is something they keep up. However, once they encounter the straw that breaks the camel’s back, everything will come rushing to the surface. Learning about the province’s trade deficit as well - that can be at first written off due to our provinces small size, but seeing that despite this the gap is significantly larger than that of provinces with similar populations, such as Nova Scotia. One statistic I found unsurprising was that 32% of cultural workers are self employed - Though not everyone in the cultural sector is an artist, it is the dream of many artists to be self employed - with 70% being the figure given overall. Only 8% of workers overall are self employed. It can be easy to feel like you have been left in the dust, belonging to a small figure like that.

I watched this prerecorded event - Maria Panfilova is an extremely well known artist within the 3D community. Her work is often featured as bumpers and previews on the ZBrush software, so it's extremely helpful to be able to watch her give a presentation.

Despite English not being her first language (- and she taught herself English!), the content was delivered clearly. She has a lot of extremely helpful sculpting tips!

Think of it like this - With a piece of patterned origami paper, you can make an origami bird, dog, cat, and rock. You can even cut pieces off and glue them somewhere else - in the dark parts of the pattern, you can cut and glue them on to use it as the eye. This is the same with trim sheets - the texture map on every object is the same, but the shape is different.

This is useful in games where you aren't able to use much space for textures due to hardware limitations - one example being VR. It's more likely that you'd rather have more models in your game and spend less time on having unique textures for every single one. - In any time I've been in group assignments, I've had to appreciate beauty in its own workaround way - I need to see the skillsets and strengths of my partners in what they can give to the assignment. I need to have kindness to be able to resolve conflicts, humor to lighten the mood and have a good time for an assignment we may not enjoy, good judgement for assigning roles and changing people's minds on approaches, and leadership to bring everyone together.

Which strength did you expect that wasn’t there?

- I honestly expected creativity to be higher - it was placed at #7. There's no reason for this, I guess I just consider myself more of a creative person!

Find moments in your past that were the most difficult for you. How have you used your top five signature strengths in these moments?

- During really hard times - times of loss, the beginning of covid, ETC., I've REALLY found the need for appreciation of beauty and excellence. Finding joy in small things, appreciating little moments, everything needs to be appreciated. Humor has especially helped me in grieving, as well as judgement - it's important to not let it take control of your thoughts and feelings. When my best friend passed away in 2018, I definitely coped best by having humor and laughing with friends to keep us sane. I want to leave people with knowledge - either about themselves and their own identity, or about practical skills like design theory and 3D.

What do you want people to say about you when you're not there?

I want them to be thinking of things I've said when they talk about me - it means they are paying attention and really understand. Definitely self confidence and putting myself out there more, taking risks and just saying and doing what I want because I feel it's the right thing to do.

What daily thoughts or actions will take you closer to your legacy?

I want to give back to people more online, and specifically give back to communities I'm part of - I want to be able to do stuff for my following online as well, like do more art tutorials and free drawing and 3D print giveaways, because I think it's a lot of fun and really enjoy working with people on stuff like that. 

What small steps can you take that will bring you joy?

I think doing more for myself to give myself breaks  - I tend to overwork myself a lot, and really need to take time to myself! I want to work on that a lot this year. I also get joy when I'm in nature, and I need to spend a lot more time in the woods this year once the weather is nice!

I need to be aware of how others see me and how I treat others, as well as little things about time passing! I always feel like I am running out of time when it comes to doing my work or success, even though there is very clearly no age limit on when success can happen.

What emotions slow you down or accelerate your growth?

I'm always stunted by fear and insecurity, like we all are. It's also really easy for me to have really bad imposter syndrome and feel like I'm somehow faking everything.

I feel accelerated when I am able to do work other people really enjoy or that I get recognition for.

How will you work through these emotions?

Both of these are a huge part of my day to day life.

Of course, it's hard for me to pin down what my life's purpose is! I think teaching others 3D seems like a great route to go - I love doing it, and you can be paid for it. It's something that can totally be monetized, and it's very much up and coming and more and more people are interested in 3D every day.

I also think that it's important to make people smile, and I love doing that too.
