Secondly I gathered the required equipment for the activity such as a wheel barrow to be able to carry the hay which is needed in addition to their natural diet of goat mix,
Thirdly I cleaned the food trough before I put clean food in to avoid any bacteria that may be harmful to people or the goats being able to spread,
Finally I put the fresh goat mix into the trough and filled up the hay rack with fresh hay.

I had to restrain the goat to be able to put the collar on andI walked goat around the campus, It is important that I gave the goat exercise to keep them healthy and active which prevents the goat from becoming lethargic.

I took the waste out of the litter bowl and cleaned it before putting a fresh foundation on the inside.

I also gave the cats a quick health check before and after I started working with them in order to understand what strategy I should be using during the practical.

I also gave the birds the correct bird seed and gave them fresh water as well, this is essential because it keeps the animal alive and healthy.  

The rabbits need enrichment and things to naw on because it keeps the rabbits entertained and the rabbits teeth are maintained and cant over grow if taken care of.

Examples of the enrichment is that I scatter fed the rabbits by throwing food in different spots around the enclosure.

The importance of grooming the rabbits is that it promotes mental health as it provides a source of confidence for the animal as they are often social, grooming also allows the animal to be clean and be able to rid themselves of parasites.

Throughout the health check I noticed that the rat was scratching excessively therefore I checked the fur of the rat in the common places such as: behind the ears, under the elbows/armpits  because that is where parasites tend to be on this animal.

As exercise for the rats I took one out at a time and I sat on the floor with her to watch as she wandered around the room this is important for the animal because it promotes the health and welfare.

Secondly I then put the degu’s into a holding cage and then I removed the substrate and any food and water bowls that the degu’s may have within the enclosure.

Thirdly I cleaned the food and water bowls and then I put clean water into the bowl, I then put 15g per degu into the feed bowl, I then set them to the side.

Fourthly I then cleaned the enclosure with anagine and a cloth to avoid spreading any bacteria.

Lastly I then put clean substrate into the enclosure, put the food and water bowls back in and I then put the degu’s back into the enclosure.

I then washed my hands and took off my PPE.

I have cleaned the enclosure of this animal and I did this because it reduces any diseased spreading to and from the animal. I used anagine and a cloth after I removed the substrate, enrichment and placed the degus into a clean holding container. After the enclosure is cleaned and maintained by use of appropriate equipment. Once dried the enclosure will be suitable to put fresh substrate and enrichment back into the enclosure. Then I placed the degus back into the enclosure and cleaned the holding container.
