I’m a first-generation Chicana and college student, queer, and fronteriza, born/raised in South San Diego, along the U.S.-Mexico border. I’ve lived my life navigating two languages, cultures, and nations. My parents are Mexican immigrants that came to the U.S. with only a 7th and 3rd grade level of education for better life opportunities. I was raised in a low-income household, and English is my second language. Currently, I hold an A.A. in Criminal Justice, a B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Law and Society, and a Masters in Latin American Studies. My plan is to return to school for a Ph.D.

📷 The photo above is one I took this summer when my partner and I drove up to Big Sur for some camping. I absolutely love camping and have been doing it since I can remember. Traveling and nature are grounding to me.

I love Halloween. Dressing up in costumes, baking cookies, and visiting haunts are some of my favourite things during the fall time. Something that I love to do all year-round is do cosplays, especially of horror games or movies. In this particular photo, I was replicating Claire Redfield in the original 1998 horror game Resident Evil 2. Hello, my name is Marianna Bloxton. I'm 29 years old and dreading entering my 30's but time waits for no woman! I've lived in San Diego county all of my life, and I wouldn't change any of my experience for the world. Pictured above is a group of my friends, we traveled all the way to Albany, NY which is as close to Canada as you can get without leaving the US. We traveled around the US and some other countries to follow the band Ghost. I have two cats and two dogs which are pretty much my world. They keep me going during some of the harder times in my life, and I love them dearly. I'm also working on learning Spanish as I'm in 201 this year. Constantly using things like duolingo and conversation where I can to better myself.

I'm originally from NYC and even though things have changed in the city, it to me is the true melting pot of culture and the crossroads of the world. I also love to travel and in November I will be going to Munich for 2 weeks. My long term goal is to become a RN with an eventual masters degree. What I enjoy when I am not in school is to go out and enjoy life, I work in the ER/ICU currently, and life is so precious that every moment is worth enjoying as much as possible as we don't know what our futures hold for us. One thing that is always helpful in college, is the writing center.
