One resource I found very helpful on the Common Sense Media website were the AI lessons. This is a set of 9 lessons about what AI is, how to use it responsibly, how it impacts us, etc. Not only would this resource be helpful for teaching students about AI and how to effectively use it in the classroom, but I would also benefit from these lessons as someone who knows next to nothing about AI.

The resource I would use on Common Sense Media is the Peer Pressure Online lesson. The objectives of the lesson are to teach fourth graders how to identify how technology can make peer pressure stronger, how to recognize physical and emotional signs of peer pressure, and to learn the three specific strategies to apply when we face peer pressure online. I am aware that a large population of my students plays video games when at home. This opens the opportunity for peer pressure to impact them. I feel that this lesson would make my students aware of dangers like this when using technology, as well as teach them how to handle the situation if it were to occur.

I have been using a combination of the Digital Wellness and AI lessons with our Grades 4-6 students as I go in to work with our teachers. I appreciate the way they are interactive, inviting, and creating awareness, not judgement. I have worked with our 4th graders on Media, AI, and Our Emotions, 5th graders on Understanding Design & AI Techniques, and 6th Grade PII: Should I Share? Students & teachers are actively sharing, talking, and thinking critically.
