I just want to take a minute to tell you how grateful we are for you and all of the teachers and staff at Woodridge.

I am blown away by the dedication and compassion the teachers, counselors and interventionists have shown during this very difficult time.

Not only have they extremely responsive, but their dedication to the kids is amazing. They have been nothing but positive, understanding and supportive.

This morning we had trouble getting onto the breakfast meeting with the counselors. I texted Mrs. Thompson  She called me back instantaneously and helped Mila get on with Mrs. Gonzales. Mrs. Dixon’s “office hours” each afternoon have been a huge help and Mr Simpson’s morning math takes so much dedication. There are many schools who do not have the opportunity to be “live” with their teachers. Our kids are so fortunate to have live daily interaction.

Did some planning with Lori Aguero this afternoon to help our special needs students. Lori is fabulous with all her ideas, suggestions and assistance. Couldn’t do all the work without her!

I have already known Ms. Sitterle was an exceptional teacher well before this pandemic thrusted us into this continuous learning curve. 

When you walk into her classroom you can feel the inclusive environment and celebration of learning. The children understand what’s expected of them and respond with respect and enthusiasm. I’ve never really witnessed a classroom environment quite like it. She credits the “great group of students”, when I know students match the teacher’s energy and expectations. 

My observation of her teaching is that she administers and ministers— maintaining a structured classroom with realistic expectations/discipline while also fostering creativity, flexibility and love. Not only does she have a plethora of strategies and techniques in her abundant training and expertise, she reaches beyond boundaries and boxes to the individual. She is truly dedicated to differentiated instruction and knows my children’s needs, strengths and areas for growth. This is invaluable to me as a mother. 

Over these last weeks I have felt even more affirmation of her commitment to my children, their education and personal development. With news of the closures she immediately reached out with reassurance and has been impressively proactive in helping us set-up and maintain a new learning environment. Her lesson plans are easy for my children to navigate, her explanations and instruction—though surely time consuming to create—have been so beneficial. She has organized small group meet-ups based on needs and made herself available for any questions. All of her efforts have successfully kept my children engaged and genuinely learning even in our distance. My heart swells with pride and joy to know my children have such a capable professional offering her wisdom and demonstrating sincere commitment in such an unprecedented time. 

Thanks be to her, and each of you in the Woodridge family, who contribute to such an exceptional learning environment...even beyond the school doors. Please know, it’s working!

I’m sure you’re receiving all kinds of comments right now, but I wanted to send a shout out for Suzannah Sitterle. I have been so impressed as I’ve overheard her conversations with her class as well as her small groups. She has been so engaged, and you can tell that her passion is for these children to learn. I’m so grateful to have her this year! Even though we are meeting online she is doing her best to keep everyone engaged in Each other’s lives. She’s also available any time for parents questions/suggestions.

I know this is trying for all of us, but I really appreciate all the you and the rest of the staff are doing to make our kids have the best possible outcomes. Thank you, and I hope you have had a chance to get some rest this weekend!
