"Here comes the Sun" - Beatles

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

The lyrics of this song show transcendentalism by talking about a "new beginning". The repetitive phrase, "Here comes the sun", is like a door opening to clearer, happier days. Little darling probably represents lost, but renewed relationship. In all, these lyrics represent Emerson's beliefs of taking action and opening a new door to happiness.

This image shows one of Emerson's main ideas of transcendentalism of how you shouldn't stay confined/enclosed like everyone else, figuratively or physically, but go out and find your own path and see what you yourself can do. This picture also shows how one should go out and live and learn by what nature has to offer you instead of being constantly surrounded by addictive, tempting man-made objects that are really just things you want but don't actually need.

Emerson's quote explains that what lies ahead or behind us are of little significance because what really matters is our own spirit and talent within us. In other words, the past and future are insignificant because what we may have done in the past doesn't always predict our future, and what we think may come in the future, whether it looks good or bad, can be the complete opposite and completely unpredictable. That's why the only thing that matters is your spirit because that's what'll get you through even the toughest of problems.

Brister Freeman (Thoreau's real name) was a black man who learned self reliance after becoming a freed man and learning how to support himself. He ended up embracing spartan living by "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity". Thoreau further understood self-reliance by his definition of to "live deliberately" as said in the article, "In Thoreau’s words, was to wrest oneself from the diversions of this rat race, to understand the difference between the seemingly urgent matters of spending and acquiring and the truly significant ones of caring and thinking." Because of how Thoreau lived his life out near Walden in nature with simplicity and living deliberately, he truly learned to appreciate things and became a true transcendental this way.

As stated in the video, Thoreau wrote in his book 'Civil Disobedience', to follow your conscience and break the law on moral grounds than to be a cog in an unjust system. Because of that, Thoreau started a chain of peaceful civil disobedience acts that included Mahatma Gandhi, Rosa Parks, MLK, and many more people to continue. As said at the end of the video, "there will always be laws thought to be unjust in every society across the globe", this indicating that there is and always will be transcendentalism everywhere throughout all of time.

This is a group of green activists who are using civil disobedience as one of their main ways to get their point across to the whole world. They are using transcendentalism in this modern age by engaging in a "nonviolent direct action and disruption for the purpose of communicating a message." (Rory Varrato)
