1. Belief in the Messengers and Prophets (Rusul and Anbiya’)

This pillar involves having faith in all the messengers and prophets sent by Allah to guide humanity. Muslims believe that Allah chose specific individuals to receive divine revelations and deliver guidance to mankind, from Adam to the final prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him). Each prophet brought messages appropriate for their time, but they all taught the same fundamental belief in the oneness of Allah and submission to His will. This belief acknowledges that each prophet was a righteous servant of Allah and a role model for humanity.

2. Belief in the Day of Resurrection (Qiyamah)

Belief in the Day of Resurrection involves faith in life after death. Muslims believe that after death, everyone will be resurrected and judged by Allah based on their deeds. This day, known as the Day of Judgment or Qiyamah, is when Allah will hold everyone accountable for their actions in this world. Those who did good will be rewarded with paradise, while those who engaged in wrongdoing will face consequences. This belief motivates Muslims to lead a righteous life, with awareness of the ultimate accountability to Allah.

3. Belief in Qada’ and Qadr (Divine Decree and Destiny)

This pillar refers to belief in divine destiny and decree. Muslims believe that Allah has knowledge of everything and that nothing happens without His will. Qada’ refers to what Allah has decreed, and Qadr refers to the measure or the timing set by Allah for events. Although humans are given free will to make choices, Muslims believe that Allah is aware of and has control over everything in the universe. This belief encourages patience, gratitude, and reliance on Allah, as Muslims understand that everything—good or bad—happens according to Allah’s wisdom and plan.

1. Understanding of Adab:

During my time in usrah, I have deepened my understanding of the concept of adab in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of adab in our interactions with others. Adab is not only about the ethics of communication but also about how we respect Allah and maintain our relationship with Him. This reminds me to always be polite, not just in words but also in my daily actions.

2. Knowledge Sharing:

Usrah provides a space for sharing knowledge and experiences. In Islam, seeking knowledge is a duty, and through these discussions, I learned various perspectives. Each usrah member brings valuable knowledge and experiences, reflecting the Quranic verse that states, “Indeed, the believers are brothers” (Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:10). This strengthens our bond as one ummah.

3. Social Connections:

Usrah fosters strong ties of silaturahim, which is an important teaching in Islam. In Surah An-Nur (24:61), Allah commands us to maintain good relations with one another. Through usrah, I felt the moral and emotional support from friends, which built a stronger ukhuwah (brotherhood/sisterhood) bond. We motivate each other to be better in faith and deeds.

4. Self-Awareness:

The reflection sessions in usrah provide an opportunity to contemplate our actions. In Islam, self-assessment (muhasabah) is crucial for self-improvement. I realize that every weakness needs to be addressed, and every strength should be enhanced, just as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to always strive for self-betterment in all aspects.

Every action is judged based on our intention, making a good niyyah (intention) essential for positive outcomes. Heres why it matters:

1. Leads to Allah Rewards Even minor actions can bring great rewards if done with sincerity.

2. Cleanses the Heart Ensures that deeds are free from pride and hypocrisy.

3. Increases Focus & Determination Keeps us dedicated to doing good.

4. Brings Barakah (Divine Blessings) Enhances the effectiveness of our efforts.

5. Prevents Regret Provides inner peace regardless of the outcome.

6. Builds Tawakkul (Trust in Allah) Strengthens our reliance on Him.

7. Transforms Routine Acts into Worship “Everyday actions become spiritually meaningful.

A pure intention gives life a greater sense of purpose and earns the pleasure of Allah.

1. Enhances the Quality of Prayer

Without khushu, prayer becomes just a mechanical act without true devotion.

2. Leads to Rewards and Blessings

Allah promises success to those who perform their prayers with humility:

Successful indeed are the believers. Those who humble themselves in their prayers.

3. Keeps Away Distractions

Khushu helps prevent worldly thoughts and protects us from the whispers of Shaytan.

4. Brings Inner Peace and Tranquility

When we concentrate fully on Allah, our hearts feel at ease, and we develop a stronger spiritual connection.

5. Strengthens Faith

A sincere prayer performed with khushu deepens our bond with Allah and helps us become better Muslims.

In summary, khushu gives meaning to our Salah and makes it more impactful.
