An elderly man was attacked and died of brain injury due to this.

5- Vanessa: The people in the slide are protesting against unjustified hate, pushing the idea that people need to take a stand against the crimes faced by asians in America

6- Jordanna: The Cherry blossom tree is very symbolic, and the destruction of it is an act of hate and disrespect towards a community and their culture. Imagine if it was something else- if a symbol of American culture was vandalized.

4- Conner: Though Trump definitely had an impact of people's views and spread racist, ignorant, and blatantly scientifically false ideas, its not just his fault. Prejudice towards asians didn't start with COVID-19, and it won't end after the vaccines are distributed. Dain-With the amount of power Trump has and how much past drama there has been between trump and China he has a lot of influence over society
Wasin- Trump has a lot of followers and people do respect him so when he is being racist to the Asian American community he is spreading the message to his followers that it is okay to treat Asian Americans poorly
Mazie- Trump made the racism against Asian American  much worse and if trump wasn't constantly saying things like "China Virus" and other racist remarks the widespread racism against Asian Americans could have been avoided or at least a lot less violent
