The declaration of independence, was adopted on July 4, 1997, was a formal statement by the American canonists declaring their separation from Britan. It outlined grievances against King George III and justified the canonist decision to seek independence. This even was significant because it marked a revolutionary shift in political thinking, emphasizing the theories of self-government, natural rights, the rejection of monarchical rule. The Declaration inspired the colonist to see themselves as a unified nation with the right to create their own laws and future, shifting the mindset from loyal subjects of Britain to independent citizens of a new republic.
