"According to Miss Stephanie Crawford, however, Atticus was leaving the post office when Mr. Ewell approached him, cursed him, spat on him, and threatened to kill him" (249).
This quote relates to the theme because Atticus proved Bob Ewell to be a liar in the trial of Tom Robinson. Bob claims he will do whatever it takes to get back at Atticus for what he did.

"She turned and walked on, and Mr. Ewell kept the same distance behind her until she reached Mr. Link Deas's house. All the way to the house, Helen said, she heard a soft voice behind her, crooning foul words" (287).
This quote relates to the theme because Bob Ewell harassed Helen Robinson as an act of revenge. He was humiliated by the Robinson family and Bob wanted to get back at them.

The courtroom symbolizes Bob's Ewell's reason for seeking revenge. He initially wrongfully accused Tom Robinson of raping his daughter to seem like a hero for "doing the right thing". Unfortunately for him, nobody's view of him improved after Tom was determined guilty by the jury, so Mr. Ewell sought out revenge only against the people involved in the case. In addition, Atticus humiliated him on the witness stand by proving that he abused his own daughter; the jury only sought Tom as guilty because of their own racist views. Without the court case, Bob had no real reason to try robbing Judge Taylor's house, killing Atticus's children, mobbing Helen on her way to work, or humiliating Atticus.

Atticus was the one who ruined this reputation and Bob wanted to get back at him by attacking his loved ones, his kids.

The theme of revenge is very prominent in the world today. Year after year there are new acts of terrorism fueled on revenge. One prime example is the Parkland School Shooting on February 14, 2018. The shooting involved a nineteen-year old, expelled from school, who murdered 17 people inside the school and injured several others using a firearm. The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, allegedly, "took revenge on the school that expelled him, the students who rejected him, the world that wronged him."

I was just leaving my office to go home when B-Mr. Ewell came in, very excited he was, and said get out to his house quick, some...raped his girl"' (191).
Mayella Ewell claims Tom Robinson raped her as revenge. She claims and takes this case to court because Tom refused her intimate gesture.

Song relating to theme: You Should See Me In A Crown

The song, "You Should See Me In A Crown", written by Billie Eilish, expresses how someone could gain power and be vengeful. For example, the lyric, "Count my cards watch them fall. Blood on a marble wall. I like the way they all scream
Tell me which one is worse
Living or dying first" relates to how Bob Ewell expresses his anger and humilation. To go even deeper in context, the line, "Blood on a marble wall." can be a symbol for racism between whites and blacks. The "marble wall" is a symbol for whites, and the blood that has been split is from the blacks. This shows that Tom Robinson and so many other innocent people were hurt and even killed becuase of the prejudice actions taken by the whites.
Link:
