Last year at this time, I was studying for my A-levels. I knew that these exams will have a big impact on my future, so I was really concentrating on that. When all the studying was finally over, I decided to take a new path. Instead of studying further at a university as many others, I began working at BMW. This was a big change for me, because it included moving out of my parents house and living on my own in a bigger city. At first it was a little bit hard for me, but now I´m happy I did this step.

My brother used to work at Airbus Defence and Space. He finished his apprenticeship as a mechanic there, in which he had learned how to operate heavy machines that would cut raw material such as metal or hard plastic into parts. These parts were used for the construction of satellites. He didn't particularly enjoy the apprenticeship as most of the time he would work outside of the company in inferior working environments. After he had finished his final exams he continued working for Airbus for a few years before he decided to leave and start another apprenticeship as an electrician. He made his decision after talking to a friend's father who runs a small electrician business. They had both had some beers that night and thus the idea was born. My brother took the step as he had no bright future ahead of him in his old company and the work he was given every day was boring him. He now is way happier going to work every day and he enjoys the tasks he has to fulfill.
