         <title>Introduction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An infinitive almost always begins with <strong><em>to</em></strong> follow by the simple form of <strong><em>verb</em></strong>.<br><br></div><div><strong>To + verb = infinitive</strong><br><br></div><div>Ex: to sleep, to eat, to drink, to study, etc.<br><br></div><div>Infinitives can be used as nouns, adverbs and adjectives. <br><br></div><div><strong>*Important Note</strong>: Infinitive is not a verb, cannot add s, es, ed or ing to the end of it.<br><br></div><div>‘To’ in an infinitive is <strong>not a preposition</strong>. It is in an infinitive followed by the base form of the verb.</div>]]></description>

Examples of verbs and verb phrases followed only by infinitives: appear, decide, expect, hope, manage, need, pretend, seem, want, would like.</div><div>Ex: They <strong>managed to find</strong> new jobs.</div><div>Ex: She <strong>pretended to</strong> be busy.</div><div> </div><div>2. Examples of verbs and verb phrases followed only by gerunds: avoid, be worth, can’t help, consider, enjoy, feel like, have trouble, keep mind, miss, spend (time).</div><div>Ex: We <strong>considered hiring</strong> him.</div><div>Ex: I don’t<strong> feel like working </strong>today.</div><div> </div><div>3. Examples of verbs followed by infinitives or gerunds with no change in meaning: begin, can’t stand, continue, hate, like, love, prefer, start.</div><div>Ex: They <strong>began to encourage</strong> her.</div><div>Ex: They <strong>began encouraging </strong>her.</div><div> </div><div>4.
