The Brain On Drugs/ Pleasure --> Addiction

Drugs greatly affect the brain. The body may even take no pleasure or enjoy normal everyday activities because the drugs could harm the brain's ability to feel pleasure. Many drugs excrete an activity along a pathway of cells in the brain known as the "reward pathway." The chemical released is known as dopamine. Under normal conditions, dopamine travels between brain cells which produce pleasurable sensations. However, on drugs, the cells release extra dopamine which creates a stronger signal. After repeatable drug use, the brain cells lose receptors for dopamine which allows it to not be able to process the chemical as easily. The pleasure signal weakens which is why many drug users don't feel pleasure in day to day activities. Addiction will soon take place with the drug user. Addiction is a disease which changes the structure and chemistry of the brain. When drugs are abused serious consequences follow. Some drug users who are addicted to drugs can experience withdrawal. They cannot go on with their life without takin g the drug. Symptoms include fever, headaches, temors, seizures, death, and etc.
