I would say the most debilitating sport injury that I've had was a severely sprained ankle during a track meet. Initially I thought I broke by ankle and then when paramedics came over I didn't like the attention to I got up and could sort of walk on it so then I knew it wasn't broken. I was pretty confident that I would be fine the next day to participate in my next races. However, when I woke up I couldn't walk on it and it was in a lot of pain so I felt pretty discouraged and disappointed in myself that I couldn't compete. I responded by going to physiotherapy and practising my exercises so that I could compete again. I definitely felt more confident in my ability to race again once I started physio.

the most debilitating sports injury I've had was when I tore my ACL. When it first happened I panicked. I thought "this can't be happening", "I have competitions coming up", I cant be out for the season", "I'm gonna be out for the season", "I'm letting my team down". Eventually I came to terms with the injury and accept that I was out for the season and instead of showing my team I was upset I went to every practise and supported them through every practise. This injury still effect me today as I feel I can't fully participate in team sports without pulling the team down.

I would have to say breaking (or rather smashing) my nose. I was coming in to rip a ball from my number 10 in a contact situation. He was held by their flanker. As I approached, the flanker spun my teammate causing his arm to flail out. The back of his hand crushed my nose. I had to undergo a nasal reconstruction and couldn't play rugby for the remainder of that season. In the following season, I was very tentative going into contact situations. It took me a couple of seasons to get back my usually assertive style of play.
