The theme for Turtles All The Way Down is about learning to value friendships and how friends will impact your everyday life. The main characters Daisy and Aza are best friends and throughout the book they have many challenges like Daisy having to deal with Aza’s moodiness and conditions due to her mental illness, but she is continuously supportive and doesn’t ever give up on their friendship.

The first connection to the theme is from a song and the lyrics go "For what's money without happiness?", which reminds me about the fugitive that is mentioned in the story. "Or hard times without the people you love", this lyric reminds me of how Daisy and Aza value their friendship even through the hard times.

The second connection to the theme is from a song that talks about a relationship, the lyrics go "We could be free
If we only knew we were slaves to the pains of each other", meaning that having a relationship sometimes is hard but it would be harder being without that person. This relates to the theme because in the story we learn that all relationships have ups and downs, but you have to learn to value each moment rather than giving up.

The third connection to the theme is from a song that goes "Slow down, you crazy child
And take the phone off the hook and disappear for awhile
It's all right, you can afford to lose a day or two", this reminds me of Turtles All The Way Down because to me, it was almost as if it was only Daisy and Aza most of the time. Their friendship meant a lot to them and I saw them as the only people in the world sometimes, just how the song expresses how the audience needs to slow down and just enjoy what's happening right now.

The fourth connection to the theme is from a song that goes "But how could it be anxiety?
How could anxiety make me physically feel off balance?
How could anxiety make me feel as though I was fading from this world
And on the brink of death?", the artist is explaining his mental state after being told he went through and anxiety attack. I connected this to the story because I know from the book that Aza has severe anxiety, therefore it reminds me of her and her mental state.

The fifth connection to the theme is in the text, "I've got a theory about uniforms. I think they design them so that you become, like, a nonperson, so that you're not Daisy Ramirez, a Human Being, but instead a thing that brings people pizza and exchanges their tickets for plastic dinosaurs. It's like the uniform is designed to hide me." This can be connected to a song that goes "

The sixth connection to the theme of having valuable friendship comes from an article about a woman reviewing Turtles All The Way Down, she wrote, "That sometimes there doesn’t need to be an answer. That some questions are better off not knowing the answer to. It’s being OK with not having an answer to something. It’s giving in to the uncertainty and being OK with it when it comes.", which relates because she is connection to the text by explaining her thoughts on the main characters friendship.
