June 1945 - the US arrives in Korea

1950 - North Korea invades South Korea
Under the order of the Soviets North Korea invades South Korea and begins the Korean War 

1950 - the US is pushed to the Brink of Defeat
The Soviet Union fought and pushed the US to where there was only one city that remained under the control of the US 

1951 - Stalemate at 38th Parallel
No agreement could be formed between the two nations for 2 years until they both decided to go off as separate countries with a bordar in between

The Korean war is one of the examples of the many wars in the Cold war. In many cases Russia and US chose opposite sides just to be against each other. This is important for us to connect this to present day because what we dont know, we tend to repeat.
